So Mrs_G and I are travelling later this week to Europe via Dubai, but our flight is at sparrows and so we will have to use the EK lounge. We are wanting to get a decent meal before we go as we have a long flight in economy and are not fans of the inflight breakfast. (Lunch is fine)

Can anyone give any insights into what's likely to be available early morning in the Emirates lounge?

Not sure if they have western style breakfast stuff, I've used EK lounges a lot but their business lounge menu in Dubai is not time dependent, and I always got a steak in their F lounge regardless. I would be surprised if there wasn't, sliced fruit, yoghurt, Arabic mezze (dips, olives etc), cold meat, a variety of breads, jams, cheese, cereal. Prob some beef or chicken sausages (no pork is served), maybe some eggs etc. You certainly won't starve.

I haven't seen steak available at the MEL EK lounge buffet for breakfast (There is no a la carte).

What is there looks descent IME, not that I have ever eaten much, generally having done well on corn fritters in QF First lounge.

I was talking about Dubai, either in the j lounge which has the same menu 24/7 or the F loungue were I get a steak from ala carte no matter what time it is) as that's my reference point. I did not say the melbourne EK loungue has à la carte or steaks to order. I've been in a fair few EK lounges around the world and the menu is very similar, would be interesting to hear what is on offer there for breakfast.

An off topic post then o_O

If someone asks you what food McDonald's has in MEL, I think it's quite valid to say "well I haven't eaten MEL Macca's, but I've had it at dozens of other stores, pretty sure they will serve xyz". No one else had replied, better some info than nothing. I assume the OP has done their trip now, so maybe they can tell us.

Yes, I am back. Breakfast was adequate but uninspiring - and for comparison, nothing like Dubai offerings.

Lounge was quite busy, so there were gaps in food availability, but if you got the timing right you could put together a reasonable cooked breakfast with individual poached eggs in pots, hash browns, tomatoes, and sausage-like things. There were some small snack plates, but no mezze. Very limited bakery items.
