Hi all,

We are travelling to Europe in 3 months flying Emirates business outbound and Ehithad First inbound, both award bookings. Is there any way to guarantee a baby bassinet?

I have spoken to Etihad at length and have been informed there is no way to guarantee- this will be determined at check in.

I'm assuming the earlier we check in the better but does anyone have any other tips? Are the bassinets likely to all be in use and does anyone know how many bassinets the airlines would have for an a380?

Thanks in advance

The best you can do is to call them and put the request in the system. Even though they say they do not pre-allocate bassinets in my exprience we have had bassinet each time we have requested. With Emirates they pre-allocated bassinet for our daughter each time with our last flight with them in February. Same experience with Qantas. No experience with Etihad.

Emirates J bassinet
1 bassinet between Row 6D and 6G
1 bassinet between Row 22D and 22G

Etihad F class bassinet
1 bassinet rearward of rearfacing 5C suite
1 bassinet rearward of rearfacing 5H suite

Does Etihad still have the onboard nanny service?

(According to Seatguru)

What are your travel dates, flight number and origin and destination airport and I’ll look up whether those seats have been selected.

Thanks for that info Quickstatus.
I have confirmed we are seated at 6D and 6G for the Emirates flight.

And you are correct about the Ehithad bassinet seats. Surprisingly, the two bassinet seats 5C and 5H are not able to open up/connect to the adjacent seat. So couples must choose to either have connecting apartments or non-connecting with bassinet.

Etihad still have nanny service. Have heard mixed reviews about how proactive they are and there is generally one nanny for the plane so can't expect too much.

Good information.

A new experience - spouses don’t have to sit together on an airplane. It’s actually OK:)

Nanny is just a marketing spiel - there is one flight attendant usually female that has the nanny duties. It’s like the other airline’sbook the cook or the inflight chef. There are no chefs on board

Most of the babies will be downstairs in Y.

We did SYD-LHR Etihad J with a baby earlier this year and nanny wasn't sighted. First leg we were booked into a bassinet seat -- couldn't be booked beforehand, only allocated on check-in -- but not on the second leg (which we didn't realise until seated)...despite being the only baby in J. FA's sorted it, asking another passenger to swap after boarding.

In my experience, EY will confirm a BSCT seat in advance, just not a specific one. So if there are mutiple options, you'll get one of them and they decide which one at check in. If there are only one or two options, then the allocation is easier. The only time you won't get it confirmed is if there are already too many pax with BSCT requests in.
