Absolutely gutted :(. Have booked F on EK416 DXB SYD on the 19 October 2018 for 2 PAX using QFF points. I was just looking at Expert Flyer to check loading and noticed that aircraft has been swapped from A380 to 777. This flight is currently an A380 but as 1 July changes to the 777. Have been fortunate and done EK F before but in the 777 and desperately want the 380 for the shower/bar (particularly with a 14 hour flight time). Does anyone know if this is likely to change back to the 380?

Final destination is BNE and would be prepared to swap flights but there doesn't appear to be any availability. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You could try ringing QF - tell them you specifically booked that flight for the A380. Ask them if they will send a message to Emirates asking them to switch you to another flight. You never know, with the reduction in capacity of F from 14->8 on that flight they might be more than happy to move you!

(This would involve EK revenue management opening up two paid seats and changing them to awards, so it might take a few days before you hear back)

Thanks MEL_Traveller. Will try that.

Take a shower and drink on the ground. Enjoy the new 777 cabin.

Not sure it’s the new cabin. Expert Flyer shows a 1 2 1 config. New first cabins are 1 1 1. Would be a good consolation if we got the new cabin though.

Our EK417 flight outbound SYD-DXB on Jan 28, 2019 was changed as well. Booked it specifically as SO was joking about wanting to have a shower in the air when we flew the new Suites on SQ. She just shrugged and said, "First World Problems" when I told her about the change. LOL!

Yeh my SO said much the same and that there are worse things in the world that can happen ;). Just frustrating that we booked a specific flight for a reason and now its changed. BNE is our home port (international) but we booked via Sydney just to get the 380 (no award availability on the BNE flights at the time). Will try MEL_Traveller's suggestion and if that doesn't work just wait and see what opens up closer to the time and then try and swap.

So...did you try to change? We've decided to keep what we have and not mess around. SO will be happy as long as she can have a shower in transit. Makes a world of difference.

I've been crazy busy at work (and a bit slack) and hadn't gotten around to it. I have just now sent a message to Qantas and I have also emailed Emirates. Will update you once I hear back. The departure timing of EK416 actually suits me (evening instead of morning) but the idea of a shower (gimmick I know) and particularly the bar so you can get up, stretch out and socialise trumps it for me.

I just had a look at the app and my flight has switched back to an A380. Not sure if that is the case or just a glitch. SeatGuru is still showing 777 though it was slow to update from A380 to 777 at the last change. I’ll take whatever I’m given on the day...as long as I remain in F :)

On the EK website it's still coming up as a 777-300 unfortunately :(

Just checked the website and it's coming A380 for us. Not saying anything to SO in case it changes back. Will be a wonderful surprise if we do end up with the A380.

Just threw in some random dates on EK website and Expert flyer and looks like the 380 is back on EK416/417 from end of October. We fly home 19/10 so just miss out. Have gotten the standard response from Qantas and Emirates so not holding out any hope. Will wait and see what happens. Guess I can't (shouldn't) complain too much...a lot of people don't get to fly/travel let only in premium cabins.

I have the same problem - just been notified that my flight Sydney to Dubai is now a 777. Not terribly happy - I can’t really change it, as I have booked and paid for the transit hotel and wanted to get a bit of a rest before continuing to Nairobi. The other A380 flights just don’t work. I suppose the only plus is that I can have a shower at the hotel so won’t miss it, but that’s not the point. This is paid F as well.....

:( Pretty poor form from Emirates (and airlines in general) really. You pay a price/premium for a certain product and end up with an inferior product. Trouble is there is very little recourse. They just quote the T’s & C’s or say it’s for operational reasons. You have to either suck it up or try and change but generally at a cost to yourself.

Yeah - I said to my friendly TA who notified me last night that I had to suck it up - the other flights really wouldn’t work with what we had booked. :(. I was tossing up between EK and SQ for New York next year and this made me decide on SQ. I am sure Emirates couldn’t care less about 2 fares (even in F), but it made me feel better!

It comes down to your preference I guess. We had a change of equipment from the A380 to the 777 on SQ between SIN and CDG and return. As a bonus we got the new suites between SYD and SIN and return.
