Hi,
I've been offered an itinerary landing 07:30 on VA from LAX Sunday morning then onward, also VA to BNE departing 09:00.

I'll need to clear customs in SYD.

Does this sound more than a bit tight?, I guess if I miss it I'll just take the next one, I'm flex and they own the connection anyway.

OK if no delays with luggage collection, customs and immigration.

After you leave customs the VA transfer desk will move you to another flight if necessary. That is if the system hasn’t already done it.

Had problems with transfer both going and returning Mel via Syd to Norfolk Island recently. Outgoing the Virgin bus took 30 minutes to turn run up and we still had to pick up boarding passes at international. A big rush/stress for the only plane of the day. Returning we had late plane and manual immigration checks. But Virgin twice reallocated the connecting flight to Mel with no fuss. Even gave us the red light/buzzer on boarding with an upgrade to Econ X row 3.

Had an early morning VA2 to VA on to MEL back in March - connection was that 90 minutes.

Was through immigration / customs in 5 minutes (!?) and the bus departed 10 minutes later.

It took 50 minutes to travel between the terminals; the bus was still under the 16R flight path 40 minutes into the crawl. I used premium entry and had 10 minutes in the lounge before heading off to the gate for boarding.

Stuff the bus ... next time I take a train at that time of morning.

Should be ok coming back into Australia.

I know this is VA but my experience with Qantas is they'll rebook you onto another flight if connection on same PNR and your inbound flight looks like being late.

As you are arriving Sydney and it's early Sunday morning, I wouldn't break a sweat to race to the next flight. They will be put on the next one.

Won’t be an issue. If va2 is on time which it usually is 90 min is enough.

However even if not it’s not an issue VA (like QF) will just put you on the next available flight

I would not be anxious at all and in fact I will not even rush even if late just to make sure I make the next flight. Just a normal pace. The airline will sort it out.

You have to collect your luggage at SYD and recheck
