Just been looking to book a couple of stays at a Syd airport hotel. Normally I have stayed at the Rydges which is great for International but this time I have looked for something closer to the domestic. Stamford is a bit expensive and the Accor properties and the Holiday Inn are a bit of a walk away.
I came across a new (ish) hotel Called the Felix Hotel in Baxter street. It appears to be an airport theme place. Rates for a prepaid room which are based on aircraft classes is $210 for 1st class. Easy walk to the DOM terminal and an easy walk to Mascot station for a trip into the CBD without the airport access fee.

Anyway, my question is...has anyone stayed and what did you think?

Haven't stayed but went & read the Trip Advisor reviews after reading your post-majority positive, and interesting that they are being used when there are cancelled flights.

What about the Ibis, which is next to Krispy Kreme, they run a shuttle but you could walk it as well.

A friend stayed at the Meriton Suites Sydney Airport about 10 days ago. It is past the Pullman and a few blocks from Mascot station. The advertising says 10 minutes drive from the airport. My friend said it was good and had only opened very recently so was sparkling new. She paid $185 for one night in a one bedroom suite.

Thought of that one but was hoping for something just a bit better quality. Its about the closest though

Was looking for something closer, maybe 10 mins max walk. The Felix is about 10 mins walk to both the airport and mascot train station

Ibis Budget?

Looks ok for 1 night next month as we have a 10:00am departure from international.

Ibis isnt my first choice but its close and more affordable than the Stanford or the Pullman, I thought Stanford rooms were a bit dated. For international, I would stay at the Rydges Int.

Why has Rydges become so expensive ?
A year ago I was paying about the $150-$170 mark. Now rooms are edging toward the $280-$300 rate

Location, location, location.

Everything else about it sucks.

As it’s $211 in a random date I put in for June, maybe the price will go down closer to the time. Hopefully, you’re not looking at school hols time.

Just checked the QF site and they want $327 for the night I want in Oct

Holiday Inn was $144/night including breakfast towards end of June. Back up over $200 in August.
