We are going to Kolkata from Thailand in July. My grandmother is buried in the Scottish Cemetery and it's always been on my bucket list to visit her.
Does any one have any advice and also good hotels.
I'm thinking of staying at the Oberoi Grand any other suggestions are appreciated.
We will be there for 6 days and don't plan on going to other places far from Kolkata.
Thanks in advance. :)

I stay at the Grand - fantastic hotel! You can sit by the pool and not even hear a sound from the hustle and bustle just metres away on the other side of the hotel walls.

Pre-book your arrival transfer. Doesn't have to be from the hotel, and of the transfer companies will do. Makes the introduction to India and whole arrival process quite pleasant.

Haven’t been to Kolkata for 25 years so I’m sure any advice I could offer would be way too dated. I do remember the airport (CCU) was called Dum Dum Airport, after a local armaments factory where the devastating bullets were made. Funnily they changed its name to the slightly less memorable Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
