I had a feeling there was a maximum number of days you could stay on board for, except for a ship like The World where cabins are privately owned, though this may be incorrect now.
Notwithstanding that, and even though I love cruising, it’s not a life I aspire to really. For one thing, the menus get recycled every few weeks and so I think I might get sick of the mass produced food, :p

That’s a weird article though. He doesn’t actually sound happy. And we don’t get to hear about his actual lifestyle, just the authors thoughts. Which after 5 days only doesn’t mean much.
Yeah, the article doesn’t actually say anything about Mario’s life. Bit of nonsense really.

Sounds a good lifestyle if you're alone and lonely and want to get away.

I wonder if he's getting some sort of discount as an ambassador of sorts?

Humans (and indeed animals) habituate to all sorts of environments and indeed become quite displaced when moved.

We have only done one BtoB cruise; I was pleased to be getting off and all at once felt a little displaced as we had settled in.

I can't imagine a world cruise, but many do.
I am looking forward very much to Turtle Michael's feedback when he cruises the world on the wind next year.

Our happiest man is probably quite attached to his world , and to that end he is likely quite happy

The longest cruise I’ve been on was 23 days. It was a little difficult to settle back into normal life. Turtle Michael has some wonderful journeys indeed.

I met a woman onboard a Seabourn cruise who essentially lived onboard. She would leave the ship each year around Thanksgiving to visit family and return after Christmas. She had a lot of personal possessions onboard which the ship stored for her whilst she was on land. This lady said it would cost her as much to live in a retirement community on land as it did to cruise, so whilst she could she preferred to cruise.

A google search was fun…

Calling a Cruise Ship Home: See the World, Then See It Again

Mr. Salcedo, 67, has been living aboard cruise ships for the past 20 years. Known as Super Mario by crew members, he not only lives on board, but also runs an online investment management business as he cruises the coastal waters of southern Florida and the Caribbean.

Mr. Salcedo estimates he has been on 950 cruises and logged 7,000 “cruise days” at sea. His standard regimen involves five hours of work in the morning, followed by activities such as dancing, seeing shows and scuba diving. While he still maintains a condominium in Miami, he spends very little time there: perhaps a few hours each week when his ship is in port, to check up on his property and enjoy breakfast at McDonald’s.

In total he spends almost all 52 weeks of the year at sea, at a cost of about $70,000 per year.

It's not really an article; it's more a summary/background for the video which they have prepared.

It's a 10 minute long video; pretty decent, though reflects what you'd expect. There isn't a lot of adventure there, or challenge. As Mario himself acknowledges at one point, he doesn't have any goals any more; it's just a kind of existence, but where he's gotten rid of menial chores.

The comment about Fox news was a fairly unsurprising insight to the demands of the top cruisers.
