Forgot my sunglassess in seat pocket on redeye from PER to MEL
was really sleep deprived(
any chance to locate it from your experience?

Any lost property goes to baggage services. Best to give them a call in Melbourne...

in Y friday morning
called to QF Patinum friday 4pm and they only said that MEL airport baggage services is already closed :eek:and will only open on monday

IMHO they are very good at this. I know it is hard, but patiently wait for the MEL baggage services :)

Left an umbrella on qantas. Went to the "lost property" and other things counter at BNE and described it - black with black handle - was told to "take your pick"!

Left a folder with business presentation notes in a QF seat. Also had some QF lounge passes.

The Notes were returned. The passes were missing I assume went to the next passenger in the seat.

Things like iPads/phones tend to come back as they are locked, and potentially traceable as well. Attractive items like Bose earphones don't....

We did a BKK-SYD QF flight and left a clearly distinguishable kids bag, with random toys, and kids type things inside, in the J cabin seat storage compartment by accident.
We reported it straight away to syd baggage desk after clearing getting to the DOM lounge (we only just noticed), they said cleaners would hand over lost property found on board within a day or two.
Needless to say it was never 'found' so either some passenger picked it up on their way out or cleaners took it for their own kids.
Qantas syd intl baggage desk in their defence did try really hard to find it, they even called AKL to see if it was there as the A330 went straight on to AKL after our flight.

Good luck!

Touchwood....I have never left anything onboard yet....I do check every nook and cranny about 3 times before I leave the plane bur this thread reinforces the fact that if you do leave somthing behind, kiss it goodbye!

Left the iPad in the seat pocket in 1A in Toronto two years ago. Reported it missing the next day, figured it was gone for good and replaced it. 8 months later I got an email that they found it and would I like them to ship it to me. Stuff does turn up, but I think like most have said, depends how high value and how protected an item is (electronically or otherwise).

Over Easter Mrs Cult Of One and I flew to Perth and she left her iPad in seat pocket. Called VA baggage service next day, they asked a few identifying questions (colour of cover and face colour of bezel) and confirmed that they had it. I gave them a time I would be there and it was waiting and ready for me when I arrived Thanks VA.

I did have some Sony headphones some years ago that were not returned form a Singapore airlines flight despite realizing minutes after disembarking. Thats life.

I just got a phone back that had fallen out of my bag on a transfer bus in LA. iPads have come back a couple of times. But these devices normally won't work for anyone else, and they are potentially traceable.

Transiting through SIN on SQ last week I realised on arrival at the Krisflyer lounge that I had left my prescription glasses in the window storage box beside my seat. Lounge staff rang the gate who said the aircraft had been sealed and airbridge removed so could not check until 4 hours later when reconnected. Problem was I was leaving 3 hours later. Logged a report with SATS and just received a response saying nothing matching my description was found. ☹️

Left jacket on Queen Mary 2 after being hurried out of cabin before allotted departure time. When reported loss to cruise line was told that any clothing left on board was given to a charity.

We had this exact situation on an SQ flight after landing in SIN. We realised literally as soon as we got off the plane, but we were not allowed back on board to retrieve them. We told the SQ staff exactly what had been left, and exactly where. They said the headphones would be retrieved and sent to lost property. As it happened, we had an overnight stopover and so we were back at the airport the next day, and followed up then, but were told nothing had been found. We also followed up by email and eventually got the same response.

In our case the headphones were left in a closed compartment beside a J seat, and my wife and son were in the two seats next to each other. As such, there is virtually no chance that any other passenger found them and picked them up while disembarking, so I'm pretty certain that someone cleaning/checking the aircraft must have taken them.

While we would like to think people who work for an airline or a contractor working for an airline are a cut above others or vetted more thoroughly alas they are a snapshot of the rest of the society.

I left my iPad on a SQ flight from SIN to Tokyo (can't remember which airport).

Within 2 hours of landing I had a call to my mobile, a message left and an email from SQ. I left them know that I would be leaving Tokyo in 5 days but from the other airport.

I hadn't even realised that the ipad was missing when SQ contacted me.

They kindly transported it so it was ready for me to collect when I checked in for my return flight.

I was very impressed by their service and wrote a letter of thanks to the airline and people involved.
