Hi all,

I have no status (and highly doubt I would reach any tier this year) for Hyatt and have seen the perks that you can get by using a travel agent with Hyatt Prive' association. But I've only come across one (FBI travel) in Aus and can't seem to get through to them.

Does anyone else know of Australian travel agent with Hyatt Prive' association?

The One Mile at a Time article certainly paints the program in a positive light. When you consider how few properties Hyatt has the list of hotels participating in Prive seems to be quite large.

I'd be interested to know where hotels make money off these programs? For example, does Hyatt charge a license fee of sorts to TAs that have the right to book these rates?

In the comments section there's a guy who has left his details including a weblink. It's something like Haus Travel. He's Australian and says he has access to Prive and all the other special programs.

Interesting - as a Globalist, the confirmed upgrade on booking, room credit and breakfast (where not already available) as additional.

It was interesting that Ben suggested programs like these are an alternative to straight out hotel status. What isn't 100% clear to me is whether or not Prive stays earn elite credit. Ben replied to a comment saying you get elite benefits but didn't say anything about credit. I assume it was an oversight.

I've finally been in contact with FBI Travel, so will see how I go with them otherwise will contact Haus.

From what I read is that you earn points, but not stays/credit towards status.

I have no desire to earn status at Hyatt.By the end of the year I will have SPG/MR LTP.I will stay at many SPG properties but in some places it will be a better option to use leads such as this.I do have a Virtuoso agent and they can get deals such as this though I don't know if with hyatt.

That is why these type of programs intrigue me, I hardly ever travel for business, so no real chance of gaining status. But if booking through agents get's me perks like as described (similar at SPG properties), then it's a great option for the leisurely traveller like myself.

It's like having no status and paying for J or F ... why bother with status?

So I booked this weekends coming stay at Grand Hyatt Melbourne through FBI Travel and the Hyatt Prive' rate, here's a snapshot of the rate information - not bad for booking through a TA at the flexible rate (only $6/night more then the prepaid rate).

Type of Rate: HYATT PRIVE

Rate Information: Welcome Amenity;100.USD Crdt;Daily full breakfast for 2 per room. Rate is eligible to earn tier credit; will earn points on eligible package elements.

Many hotels confirm the upgrade in advance with Virtuoso too, some on arrival.

"Eligible to earn tier credit" is interesting. Hopefully that means you'll earn night credits as well as points.

I'll let you know after the stay.

I can confirm my World of Hyatt account was credited both the 2 qualifying night credits & also points from the stay/bonus points from current promotion.

On another note, first stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne - great hotel and will certainly be back there much more.

Very pleased to hear.

Hello AFF readers.
That's me mentioned above from Haus of Travel and we're one of a few agencies in Australia with access to Prive.
The rates earn status and points just like any other rate and it has proven very popular with regular Hyatt guests.
If you need access to future rates you can <redacted>

The majority of Virtuoso partner properties confirm upgrades on arrival, some do confirm at time of booking (Crown Towers for instance) but they're the exception not the rule.

The biggest point of difference between Virtuoso and Prive (of which the latter only has 10 agency members currently in Australia) is Prive will confirm the upgrade (if available) within 48 hours of the booking where the Virtuoso rate on the same property will stipulate at time of checkin.

To answer the earlier question, no there's no cost to agencies to be Prive members, its invitation only.
Virtuoso on the other hand costs agencies an annual fee and also costs the hotel to be a part of the program beyond the amenities provided to guests.
