Hi Guys

Amex have 10,000 bonus points for the American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card the general sign up currently has no bonus points. I recieve 15,000 for a referral.

http://amex.com.au/refer/jameshLPCm

Bonus & Eligibility. The offer is only available to new American Express Card Members who apply online, are approved and spend $750 on their new Card in the first 3 months from the Card approval date. This is a limited time offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer. Previous and existing bank-issued American Express companion cardholders are eligible for this offer (cards issued by: Australia New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, Westpac Banking Corporation). 10,000 Membership Rewards Bonus points will be awarded to the eligible Card Member's account 8-10 weeks after the spend criteria has been met. This advertised offer is not applicable or valid in conjunction with any other advertised or promotional offer.

The Amex Platinum Edge is a great general card or even an exceptional card for those that already hold the American Express Explorer card (my referral link for this card is in the appropriate thread). When combined and points pooled to the Ascent Premium program the Explorer card earns 2 airline points per $.

My favourite use of this card is getting 5% off Wish giftcards and still getting 3 MR points per $ at cashrewards.
Woolworths Gift Cards Coupons, Deals, Promo Codes & Cashback

The Platinum Edge Earns

  • Earn 3 Membership Rewards points6 per dollar spent at major supermarkets
  • Earn 2 Membership Rewards points6 per dollar spent at major petrol stations
  • Earn 1 Membership Rewards point6 per dollar spent on all other purchases excluding utilities, insurance (except those issued by American Express), telecommunication providers and government bodies in Australia where you earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points6 per dollar spent.
  • No cap on earn rate, no matter how much you spend each month

Amex are so far ahead of everyone else at the moment. Great Sign on Bonuses, Great points earn, Statement Credits, Local Champion, Retention offers, Referral bonuses.

Here is a tip to anyone signing up for this card to derive even more value from the card. If you find this useful I'd very much appreciate you using my referral link.

This card comes with 4 free supplementary cards and It is possible to add yourself as a supplementary card holder, I just did this with Amex. When you add yourself as a supplementary card holder it is called an "Account Card" or "A/C" card. I did this with my initials rather than full name to tell the cards apart. There are people on AFF who have had all 4 free supplementary's issued in their own name!

Why would you do this?

1. Twice a year Amex have been running promotions where they give either 3,000 or 5,000 points for adding a supplementary cardholder.
2. One of the best things about Amex at the moment is their Statement Credit offers. I have saved a couple of thousand dollars from the cashbacks this year. Shop small, Harvey Norman, HCF, David Jones, Langtons, Westfield and Myer to name a few. Never hurts to have as many Supplementary cards as possible especially in your own name especially when this card comes with 4 free supplementary's.
3. The reason behind an A/C card is you set up all your direct debits on this card and then keep it safe at home somewhere separate from your other card/wallet. Then if you lose your wallet you don't need to change over all of your direct debits.

There are some great tips on this site on how to get the most out of this card, make sure you subscribe to these threads:

Amex Statement Credits have saved me thousands this year.

For when your annual fee is approaching call and ask them "What have you done for me lately?" I got 84,000 points to keep this card and an additional 84,000 on my American Express Platinum Edge.

Hope everyone is able to get some value from the above. Any queries please let me know. Love this site, love this card!

Hammando although I started that thread many years ago and it one of the most popular on this site
I must say Amex seem to have closed that offer quite substancially.
the last few threads on that state they are either not offering at all or a miserly 5k. a friendof mine who is a very big spender managed to squeeze only 5k out of Amex 2 days ago i am just t about to call them when my accunt falls due too and I suspect i will also only get a miserly amount.I will certainly post on that thread my offer.so sad.

I'll put my referral link here for consideration. Thanks:
http://amex.com.au/refer/kevincyYCY?XLINK=MYCP
You'll receive 10,000 points once you have spent $750 within the first three months. Disclaimer: I'll receive 15,000 points :). You will also get $200 travel credit to offset the $195 annual fee. Note: to be eligible for the 10,000 bonus points, you can't currently hold an Amex Card (Bank issued Amex OK) or held one in the last 18 months prior to application.

Hi all,

I would really apprecaite it if you would consider my link if you are considering signing up for this card:
http://amex.com.au/refer/mjfaas08Zn

Similar to above, you'll receive 10,000 Membership Rewards points1 when you apply online, are approved and spend $750 in the first 3 months of Card Membership (and I'll receive 15,000 points). Once you sign up you'll then be able to add your referral link to this post.

Cheers,

Gary.

Want to earn uncapped frequent flyer points on your everyday purchases, along with double points at petrol stations and triple points at supermarkets? Then take a look at the American Express Platinum Edge credit card.

First up, the card has an annual fee of $195, but every year you actually get a $200 travel voucher which you can spend on flights or hotels, so assuming you'd otherwise spend $200/year on travel (which I'm sure most people on this website would be doing!), the card is literally 'free'.

You might think that'd be all, but it's not: exclusively for people who apply via a referral link, there's an offer of 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards Ascent points when you spend $750 on the card within the first three months, which can be converted to 9 different frequent flyer programs (Virgin Australia Velocity, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, Etihad Guest, Emirates Skywards, Thai Royal Orchid Plus, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Malaysia Airlines Enrich and Air New Zealand Airpoints), and two hotel programs (Hilton Honors and Starwood Preferred Guest/SPG).

Normally, this card has no bonus points attached for new customers, so that's an easy 10,000 points to get things started: more than enough for a short domestic flight with Virgin Australia.

On top, you'll also earn 3 Membership Rewards points at supermarkets (equal to 3 Velocity points), 2 MR points at petrol stations (e.g. 2 Velocity points), and 1 MR point per $1 spent everywhere else, except with government bodies, insurers, telcos and utilities, where you can earn 1 MR point per $2 spent, all uncapped.

AMEX also throws in free domestic and international travel insurance, along with a free supplementary card (such as for your partner) to maximise your points, free extended warranty cover, purchase protection and refund protection.

There's an income requirement of $50,000/year to apply, but, this is actually household income, not personal income: so even if you earn less than $50k, if you live with your partner and they have an income, AMEX will assess your combined income in meeting this requirement, which makes the card much easier to qualify for, especially if you're earlier in your career but still want to make the most of earning points on your everyday purchases.

(Speaking of maximising points, many people use the Platinum Edge credit card to purchase gift cards at supermarkets for a range of other businesses (e.g. Myer, JB Hi-Fi...), which means you can earn 3 points per dollar spent on those purchases too, not just your groceries as such, hint hint!)

So, what are you waiting for?

You can apply here today!

(When you click the link above, you'll first see the AMEX Platinum charge card, which is not the AMEX Platinum Edge credit card. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Platinum Edge card to take advantage of this offer.)

I hope you've found my summary of this card useful, and would greatly appreciate you applying through my referral link, which benefits us both: you get bonus points that you wouldn't otherwise earn (10,000 vs nothing), and I'll earn a small bonus of my own, as others have indicated above. :)

As discussed in the second post on this thread the Im going to cancel threat no longer works

None of your referral links are working. Just took a look so either site is down or a new offer is looming

It's definitely one of the best credit cards for everyday use. You could transfer 1:1 to 8 different frequent flyers program.

Please kindly use my referral links: http://amex.com.au/refer/haingk0l0G

You will receive 10000 points and I will receive 15000 points.

You could PM me before or after you use this link, so that I could say 'thank you' to you personally.

This is an excellent card that can generate points earn quickly.

For an annual fee of $195 you receive:
$200 Amex travel credit
Buyer advantage extended warranty
Travel insurance (make sure you read the fine print please)
3 points per $ spent at supermarkets
2 points per $ spent on petrol
1 point per $ on all other spend (except govt)
There is also no cap on points earn.

I would appreciate if anyone would use my referral code. Dh and myself have enjoyed using other referrals from this forum.

Going to put my Platinum Edge referral out there as well, would very much appreciate anybody using it for the referral bonus :)

Some helpful thoughts maybe, based on how I use the card.
- 90% of spend is at Everyday Gift cards on Wish Gift cards, maximising points earn at 3 points per dollar
- 4x supplementary cards issued to family, maximising Shop Small and other Amex offers
- easy to use the $200 travel credit as at least part payment on hotels.

Cheers in advance.

Hi all,

Thanks in advance if anyone uses this referral link for a Amex Platinum Edge.

http://amex.com.au/refer/ellendcsXa

You will receive 10,000 Membership Rewards points if they are approved for an American Express® Platinum Edge Credit Card and meet the $750 minimum spend criteria. (T&Cs apply). You can apply for a Platinum Edge or another card.

I would receive 15,000 Membership Rewards points if you are approved for a Card using this referral link.

I particularly like the card for the increased earn at Australian supermarkets (3:1) and petrol stations (2:1) and the number of airline transfer partners. It used to come with a free Virgin return flight annually which has now changed to a $200 credit annually. For me that's a small devaluation but I still find it really worthwhile to keep this card.
