Our status is platinum and Im looking to book the Sofitel hotel in Brisbane the night prior to our international flight out of Brisbane. Im getting nervous about traffic coming up from the northern rivers during the Commonwealth games.

Our flight isn't till the evening. How late a check out can I expect they might give me?? I understand this depends on how busy they are etc? How late have you managed to get before? Im with young kids so wondering if I should book another night accomodation to cover ourselves.

With a hotel in Hong Kong (a good one, but I can’t recall the name) they gave us a room, smaller and lower down, when they found we had a late night flight. No charge at all and we had a good sleep and shower. We left at 10pm. I will look it up. It was about 10 years ago. Remains the single most exemplary service I’ve ever received in a hotel, although the act of Sofitel City Centre Singapore to allow me to check in at 7am recently comes mighty close.

I'm joining Accor plus tomorrow. A late check-out when staying in Accor hotels would be a godsend, but I would be silver status. Does the check-out time vary depending on status?

It's usually 4 but can be later or earlier. It really depends more on what sort of occupancy they have the night of your checkout..

Thanks Mark. Just another q. I've just booked the Pullman in Adelaide under Qantas Hotels for a stay on March 18. By then I will have my Accor Plus membership and card. If I present this to the Pullman at the time of check in, then might I still receive a late check out/accor benefits or does it need to have been booked through the Accor plus website?

When I've been booked at a hotel through an agent, I find it best to call the hotel after booking but before the stay, to make sure they have my membership details. Saves hassle at check-in. No guarantee they'll accept and provide benefits, but worth doing in my view.

Even as a Platinum I'm often only granted check-out until 2pm. As others have said, all depends on occupancy. Having a basic (and therefore more common) room can actually be a plus in these cases.

To make use of Accor Status benefits, it's best to book Hotel Direct. How late Checkout depends on room availability and current capacity
