Comfy dress vs Acceptable dress

I'm built for comfort not for speed. I'm going to fly in comfort.

PJs if in J/F. Comfy clothes in Y.

So, MEL_Traveller, you’re not offended by seeing people moving around the cabin dressed in “whatever”?

In J and F Cabins at least it is very common for passengers to get changed to be comfortable on the plane. I certainly do.

Some do it just at sleep time. Others like me do it soon after boarding quite often. A factor for me is the climate of location prior to boarding vs the plane. Also too that you tend to swell in the plane at altitude.

Supplied PJs are often too warm for me and so I also have a comfy cotton t-shirt and shorts in my carry-on.

Board wearing t-shirt and shorts in J cabin and usually just sleep in that and take home the pjs.

Generally change into PJs, especially on overnight flights. The only problem is when the cabin is too hot as some of the pyjamas are quite thick and heavy.

I layer as I feel the cold. But as a woman, I wear a skirt and also leggings underneath it, then I just remove my skirt and wander/relax in the leggings. I also take a scarf/pashmina of some kind and I dress the children in a similar way; layered clothing, easily removable if too hot.
DH, on the other hand, wears lightweight pants (he prefers the J. Lindeberg brand as he is a golf nut) and finds those as comfortable as a tracksuit.
We don't have any airline pjs as we prefer to fly SQ in J and they are not issued. I used to take pjs for the kids when they were younger to "trick" them into going to sleep. We all take an extra set of tops and often have a shower and change at the halfway point.

For tracksuit pants, have you looked at Kathmandu or similar, their polar fleece ones look ok.

But I honestly don't take much notice of what anyone else is wearing unless they are dressed to the nines and then I wonder how uncomfortable they are...

On long haul travel, as long as all your bits are covered modestly ( I once copped an eyeful from a passenger who had changed into his boxer shorts which I wasn't that thrilled with), I don't really think there is much to worry about.

Ditto - going from Aus to UK a lot, I have to dress for both ends of the flight. When I'm onboard, no matter the class, I change into my comfy (but stylish) trackie dacks and a plain t-shirt for the flight - so I'm not sleeping in my clothes and attaining that 'just crushed' look.

^ Especially if you know you have a few hours layover and another 8 or 14hr flight to go - its nice to try to stay a bit fresh/cleaner, knowing you still have 10-14hrs before youre in your hotel or house.

I will sometimes also have a lounge shower even though I havent taken my first flight yet - because I can.

What are people’s thoughts regarding underpants under the PJs? To wear or not to wear? At home I typically wouldn’t bother since it’s uncomfortable but on the plane I’m not sure the other PAX would appreciate potentially seeing the nether regions jiggling around when out of the seat.

I make sure that the underpants I wear when flying and will be sleeping are of the very comfortbale kind.

can't be as bad as the time I saw a guest in the silverkris J lounge at Changi washing his nether regions over a bathroom sink... ergh. on the sinks opposite there was someone brushing his teeth.... erghhhh, i have no other words

I generally dont watch my cabin buddies nether regions, its not like they are doing jumping jacks or voguing and if its that impressive that strutting down the aisle will make me notice, then I would be more afraid of its size than outraged they are jingling free.

I do pack spare undies & tshirt in the carry on for the next shower we can get mid haul - toss the old ones in the bin.

Taking off my bra for long hauls is something Ive never thought of.

You wouldn’t need to be actively trying to look in that area. Someone walking down the aisle could easily be spotted inadvertently as you look over.

I have no such J/F pyjamas myself, but I've washed my better-half's Qantas & Delta ones a few times; I wasn't necessarily paying a lot of attention, but I don't think they're constructed in such a way as to offer any unwanted views anywhere unwanted. Unless there are separate ones for male & female (but doubt that). Unforunately, any PJ's I do have would be potentially troublesome, so I'd be using trackie-dacks for this purpose (in fact maybe I should say "I will be using trackie-dacks for this purpose" :)).

OK then ... next question ... where are people getting changed?

I'm no regular in J or F, but I have once done the trans-tasman trip in Emirates in F, 'cos it was ridiculously cheap at the time & I figured may's well do it once in my life. And yeah there's enough privacy to change in those cubicles. But it doesn't look like J usually affords that much privacy.
And the thought of non-shoe-covered feet on aircraft toilet floors makes me a bit "erk" about changing in there. Or are people taking thongs or slippers onboard to make that easier?

I always change in the WC. Only takes a second. Either slip on your shoes (don't tie) for easy on and off, one foot at a time. Or as mentioned above, a pair of those disposable hotel slippers.

Wear what feels comfortable. Look at it this way, it's public transport, you are traveling from A to B, nothing more. It is not a fashion runway, and chances are you'll never see any of the other pax on that flight ever again, and even if you do, it's not like they will remember what you wore on your last flight with them.

I still remember what the crazy lady wore CGD-SIN back in 2011, but I think it was more her actions that prompts the memory of the outfit than the outfit itself.

I always fly with thongs for flights of 2 hours or more. I hate the suplied slippers and as feet swell in the plane much prefer thongs on board.
