Definitely. First Harvey Norman, then Flower Power and First Choice, now Luxury Escapes. Probably others too? The fat lady might be warming up.....
I dont understand blocking the purchase of their own vouchers, given they get the money whether you buy a voucher or a product.

Most of these promos since they were started (including the old more lucrative point promos) have excluded GC purchase in the T&C. It was just that it was never enforced.

My guess is that it is just that the back-end systems to enable GC purchase to be excluded, and in particular for online purchase, has just caught up enough to make the make the T&C easily enforceable.

Yep I made that point in another thread too. I'm not complaining per se, more the observation that taking steps to exclude GC purchases, as per the T&Cs, seems to be on the rise. But as blackcat20 points out, it seems like cutting off their nose to spite their face.

I would disagree. Those taking advantage of GCs in these promos (and I have often done this in a BIG way) are not likely to be swayed into using the company on a regular basis.

Those companies after a cashflow boost (ie Qantas with their December GC Promo) are probably happy enough, but otherwise the promo is being offered to either:
- Have Amex demonstrate how they can drive custom their way
- Have the store/service tried in the hope of repeat business

While yes I am generalising, the GC pillagers like myself are just taking advantage why we can and are not really valuable unless they need the cashflow injection.

I once bought $50K of GC through DSE just to earn the 575K in points on offer. Did it even slightly influence me to ever go back for any reason apart from other promos? No not in the slightest.

Yes and no. If you buy a holiday, you can only receive one $60 credit since splitting across credit cards is not possible. By buying multiple GCs, you could use them all on one holiday as opposed to buying several holidays.

At my local Woolies, the red Westfield gift cards have been replaced by these silver ones.

Does anyone know if they work in the same way as the red ones do?

I need to purchase a large quantity of stamps ;).

PM responses if you prefer.
