Westpac Black Altitude Bonus points.

Bad news IMO. I much prefer cards that mess things up as there are more points or AF reimbursements to reap.

If you really enjoy that kind of fighting, go for your life. I would rather smooth sailing.

My first 20,000 bonus points posted on time and in accordance with the terms of the offer.

Finally got my points mid November. Had to contact them again as they didn't contact me as promised, which I mentioned, and suggested that perhaps I should receive some bonus points for the inconvenience - no luck. Agent said the agent who was supposed to ring me back was sitting right next to him so I mentioned that she can take the credit as the reason I won't renew the card next year. Still haven't been charged the annual fee so I'm happy with that.

Potential rookie error here:

I was approved ~3 weeks ago, but I'm not 100% sure that I signed up via a 20k+80k offer. No points have been credited yet (haven't had a statement). Is there any way to find out? If I mistakenly signed up for just the 80k offer, has anyone had any success talking their way into the 20k?

Two options for you:

1) Check your internet browsing history to see which link you used.

2) Call Westpac to confirm that you signed up via the 100K link. If they say you didn't get out now with a fee refund before any points post at all.

I signed up for the 80K bonus point offer In August, completed the spend within a few weeks but no points as yet for the bonus ..have called three times latest 2 days ago where they promised someone would get back to me as now well over the 90 days..have not heard anything yet

It took me four separate calls, a multitude of teams and about 5 embarrassed Westpac call centre workers but my bonus points were credited on Monday, two months.

I also firmly believe that had I not been a dog with a bone I would be waiting much longer for them.

I signed up to the 80+20K bonus points on 20/10 but didn't activate the card until 14/11 as I was overseas. Before I activated my card, I rang them to ensure that the 80+20K was valid and with a positive confirmation, I went ahead to activate the card. Didn't receive the 20K bonus on the first statement (but $195 AF charged), so thought I'll wait. Next statement, the 80K points was posted. I rang them to enquire about the missing 20K and was told the activation was done outside of the 26/10 cut off period when the promotion was only to apply (not approved or activate) by the 26/10? I'm still putting my foot down and trying to escalate this to their resolution team. I was told that they could only see when the card was activated, not when the application was submitted which I think is a load of BS but it is rather frustrating dealing with people who didn't have the full info.

Wondering if anyone has any pointers on what I should say to the resolution team to insist the reinstatement of missing points or perhaps some additional compensation? Thanks.

T&Cs clearly say apply not activate or approval. I can't see anything in the T&Cs that would preclude you from the 20K. Screenshot attached if you need to argue your case.

You have broken the Terms and Conditions of your offer, unless you give me what was promised under that offer you leave me no choice but to escalate it to FOS.

Personally I'd use email/letter so you have a record.

Got my 20,000 points in accordance with the offering, but after 12 weeks I have not received my 80,000 bonus points. Have sent a notice of breach of contract to Westpac. Here's hoping that this is just like the drama that unfolded with HSBC abut 18 month ago and there's some free points coming my way again :)

Same type of letter that you sent for HSBC Dr Ralph?

Have you previously or are you prepared to share a template please? I have a feeling that I am going to end up in the same situation as you with Westpac.
Pretty sure I shared a copy of the letter I used with HSBC in that thread.

Let me see if I can find it otherwise I'll post it again.

UPDATE: HSBC letter:

HSBC Platinum 60,000 $199 fee

UPDATE 2: Even better this time Westpack has a free reply address which you can use. If I don't get a response within 7 days I'll be sending another letter to the same address telling them I want exemplary damages because of their extended delay in dealing with the problem.

Westpac Complaints
Reply Paid 5265

Remember that they wont like getting a letter. It takes them much longer to deal with the problem and therefore costs them more money. I have, in the past, found that I get the run around if I send an email or call. Sending them a letter with only your postal address listed as the mechanism for reply will cost them a significant amount of time and effort to reply to.

I think I'm in a similar situation. Just received my third statement of $65, but the first statement was $3700, and the second one was $2800 - so well over the required $5000 spend. I received the 20k points on my first statement, but nothing since. Is it time to start calling ?

It's 12 weeks from when you made the $5k spend, so it might depend on when you made the $5k in the second month. Work that out then call them, they've probably messed it up either way.

Send letter now. Don't wait. Don't call. If you call you'll get a run around from people who have no ability to resolve your problem. Demand refund of fees and state clearly that Westpac is in breach of contract.

UPDATE:

Received a call from Westpac in response to my letter. They acknowledged that they breached the terms of the offer by not awarding the points within the 12 weeks. Said the missing points (80,000) would come on the next statement. When pushed about compensation that said 'sorry' was sufficient compensation. I told them that this was utterly unacceptable and offensive for them to be trying this on given a breach of contract had occured. They offered $100 refund of fees. I took the offer. Given I paid $195 for this card it now means that 100,000 QFF points have been obtained for $95.

If you have not received the full points within 12 weeks I encourage you to contact Westpac and push for compensation. Do not accept an 'I'm sorry' response.

UPDATE 2: $100 was instantly added to my account.
