Finnair Delays and Cancellation

AY85 HEL-PEK on A350-900 (OH-LWA) cancelled at midnight (scheduled at 1800hrs departure)

The entire World Cup Australian freestyle ski team affected.

So now rerouted HEL-CPH-PEK departing 23 hours late.

The problem with this reroute is CPH-PEK is operated by SAS and is using its ugly duckling A340-300 LN-RKP. Its the only A340 not upgraded to the new J seating (Vantage XL) . The seat will be like Skybed Mk1 . As soon as daughter said 9E, I knew. There are no E seats in J with the upgraded seating A340 on SAS.
SAS says its used as a reserve only but Flightradar24 shows it operating as a line aircraft on regular routes.

So gone from AY celebrated J offering to an old J.

I wonder what compo can be obtained for this.

So after that, the reroute didn’t work because HEL-CPH departed 4 hours late meaning the CPH-PEK departed as they were airborne out of HEL. A second night this time in CPH (Hotel King Arthur).
The next attempt was successful but is another reroute. This time CPH-DOH-PEK on QR. The DOH-PEK is unfortunately the old 777 J cabin not unlike the old VA Australia J
