MH A350 familiarisation flights

Sometimes Lucky comes through with some good stuff.

Like QF is getting 789s, MH is getting A350s, and will be using them on short haul routes Dec and Jan before commencing KUL-LHR.

So selected flights from KUL to BKK, SIN and PEN.
And some J bookings will get F seats.

I'm ok with that! It's part of a longer JAL itinerary, will be spending some time at the QF SIN lounge after this flight followed by JL36 to Haneda that evening. Already had the trip booked before seeing this thread, over the moon to get a A350 F seat over 738 J...

Thanks for this tip just changed my flight to a day prior to snag the A350 KUL-BKK, unfortunately row 1 already full still happy to try the A350 in J non-the less!

MH reallocated my seats from the new F back into J, and going by EF it looks like they've done the same to two others on my flight. F is now showing as blocked but unoccupied on EF. Anyone else have the same issue? Hoping they open them back up a few days before departure.

On an upcoming flight on the a350 i was in J anyway as the F seats were already occupied, checked today on EF and same thing, row 1 all blocked. I am in row 2, hope this a good row.

Maybe they're planning on putting crew in there for training.

Very jealous. I actually managed to snag all four F seats for my group when they opened row 1 back up which makes it even worse :'(

I was in row 2 so could see the F suites and they looked very plush and spacious.
Hopefully you can try it out in the future.

Out of interest, what do you particularly liked about them over the QF A330 suites? I saw both planes at KLIA earlier this week, looks good from the outside, haven’t had a chance to try them yet.

I felt like the seats were softer, wider, longer than the A330 suites, this is not rubbishing the A330 suites which I really like, just saying I thought they were a step up from the QF suites.

Some other good points:
*There were no overhead bins in the middle so the ceiling seemed higher giving the illusion of more space.
*The colour chosen for the suites is a nice light modern tone of grey, feels more fresh than QF's dark mustard? colour suites.
*TV's were very clear almost high definition, best quality I have seen on an aircraft.
*Seats had a function to adjust cushioning softness which was an interesting feature.
*A lot more hidey holes for storage.

Again this is not to put down QF's A330 product though personally if prices were identical for the QF A330 J product and the MH A350 J product I would choose MH A350 J.

I thoroughly enjoyed my F seat to and from PEN on the 7th and 8th Jan. It was comfortable and though narrower than I was expecting, it was such that I’m looking to fly MH to LHR in F later this year.

Malaysia Airlines Is Bringing Their A350 (With First Class Seats!) To Sydney - One Mile at a Time

Malaysia Airlines operates a double daily A330 to Sydney, and has today announced that it will operate its new A350 to Sydney on one of the daily frequencies, from September 1 to October 27, with the following schedule:

* MH123 Kuala Lumpur to Sydney departing 11:45PM arriving 10:00AM (+1)
* MH122 Sydney to Kuala Lumpur departing 1:05pm arriving 7:55pm

While the aircraft change has been loaded into ExpertFlyer and the GDS, Malaysia Airlines does not appear to be selling first class on this route for this period.

Now when some airlines (such as Qantas) do this, they often reserve these first class seats for their highest status frequent flyers, in this case oneworld Emeralds. As these seats are not ‘blocked’ on ExpertFlyer, it would appear that anyone with a business class ticket can reserve the seats in row 1.

If you happen to be booked on MH122 or MH123 for this period, I would encourage you to try and reserve one of these seats regardless of your status.

Although you will ‘only’ receive the business class soft product (meals, drinks, service, amenities), the hard product will be significantly better than the other business class seats on the flight. I would note that there’s a risk that they could change seat assignments for those who reserve first class seats, and later reassign those seats to others.

The J only service I was on allowed me to select into Row 1. And I got an extra stick of Satay - 4 in total unlike to usual 3.
