Its great to see the Luxury Collection back again after The shereaton towers southgate (The langham Melbourne)

I missed that announcement and the OP, so thanks.

It will be a great location, although some-one needs a geography lesson ..

This hotel will take residency in an assortment of heritage buildings, including the Georgian-style St. Mary’s Hospital originally constructed in 1847. Prominently positioned in Parliament Square, the hotel will be located directly behind Hobart’s historic Parliament House, near local institutions including Salamanca Market and the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).

.. MONA is about 9km away .. although the ferry to MONA leaves from a spot quite close :) .

Also interesting is this bit:

The original features of the heritage buildings will be revived for today’s luxury traveller by Sydney-based hospitality interior design firm JPDC. The Georgian and Art Deco architectural style will be maintained throughout,

Which means that this Art Deco building will be part of the hotel ..

Hope they pull it off OK.

The monstrosity on the far left of that pic will be pulled down. Believe it or not, there was a group here who fought tooth and nail for its preservation as part of our 'heritage'.

Currently staying in Hobart and looking back at the CBD.One wonders what the opponents of these hotels are thinking. Some monstrosities hiding the surviving genuine heritage buildings.
