You haven't seen the price for the limited edition blended G3
Oh but I have. I was at Magill Estate on the weekend and undertook The Ultimate Penfolds Experience (which includes Grange tasting) and was informed of the new product and price during the tour (which takes you to see a complete set of Grange magnums in the cellars).

Penfolds is still over-priced to buggery
The Grange is a great drop and the St Henri
But $34 for the 128 and the 28 - come on!?
Thank-you China, for hoiking up the price of these quaffers

I was at a tasting on the weekend at Penfold's Magill Estate. Had the St Henri and the Grange during the same tasting. Was very happy with the St Henri. There is no possible way to value the Grange at 8+ times the St Henri, except that there are enough fools in the world who are prepared to pay for the Grange.

Absolutely agree Dr Ralph especially as most of the Penfolds range are blends! Cheers Rug

Agreed.

Did the tasting experience thing last night, and while the Grange is quite obviously one hell of a wine, in no way is it 8 x St Henri, and in no way is to 10x bin 389.

The biggest rip off as far as I'm concerned was the Bin 150...was not a stand out wine, and at now $85 a bottle really does not reflect the price point with the Bin 28 (also overpriced) beating it in my eyes.

Maybe Taltarni? Scored 95 Halliday points for the 2014 vintage
Taltarni Pyrenees Shiraz

Just noticed the alcohol at 11.5%... can that be right?

Also neglected to mention that if it is it has THREE gold medals ( as shown on DM's site) but despite that it almost certainly has to be the Taltarni and despite the fact that WBW and Nick's sites both describe it as paradoxically a Caberneto_O
From Nick's: "...Dry chewy finish with a long conclusion of blackcurrant, black cherry, cedary tobacco and spice. A big structured Cabernet that requires some patience. Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
" and from WBW: "Striking cabernet sauvignon out of the Pyrenees wine region of north-west Victoria. Interesting use of the word “complimented” on the back label. It’s a muscular cabernet. And a very good one." DM has it being under cork despite showing an image with stelvin which tallies with WBW and Nick's, curioser and curioser... Btw Justwines shows it as being 14% not 14.5% and the image is shown with cork closure, sounds like a nice drop despite all that!

CM just updated the alcohol to 14.7% and added two gold medals. Only 20 mins left to roll the dice...

i had a broker call me from CM today, he confirmed it to be Glenlofty - but apparently a Glenlofty a level above the norm. I cant find anything to back this up on the Glenlofty website, they all look of a similar tier to me....but i could easily be wrong

I think there is a GL a level above on EpiQure that may give more details

Besides the deals I've posted in the pinot and epiQure threads, thought I'd combine a few themes and mention that the winner of this year's Halliday Chardonnay Challenge is the 2016 Amelia Park Reserve Chardonnay - $44.95 at myCellars (pm me for free delivery code) or cheaper at Winery Lane if you buy a dozen with a $75/$100 code...

Also, Cellar One has $10 off $100+ spend or $60 off $500+ spend until this Sunday - good for Stonier, especially the single-vineyard chardonnays.

nothing necessarily wrong with that - some of the best and most expensive wines in the world are blends :)

Got the Serrat 5 pack from Wine Decoded Serrat 2016 5-Pack with a sneaky 2015 in the mix - Wine Decoded yesterday spoke to them, nice bloke, turns out he's made wine at Yarra Yering and Yering Station with Tom Carson who is behind Serrat and runs Yabby Lake. Added an extra 16 Shiraz Viognier, they've. Had the 2015 Grenache Noir it was spectacular super elegant, great texture, heaps of flavour.

Welcome to AFF :)

Yes, Paul Kaan seems like a nice guy with a good website/business, as Tom whom I worked with a while ago - I presume that you bought the 2015 Grenache Noir earlier elsewhere and not from Wine Decoded as that would have been some speedy service?

My stock of GN is unfortunately so limited (read: one bottle) that I need to save it for a special occasion.

The Hardys HRB Riesling is calling me....

I have one '16 GN and plan to hold off until just before next years release before sampling and deciding if I should get more
