ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I've read about eftpos cards being used at Auspost self serve machines to pay ATO. Have any of you done so? Does the card payment fee change? If you wish to PM (for obvious reasons), that would be great.

October is a big one for quarterlies as well as BAS. Just as I find our bank balances moving in the right direction the fiscal fiend wants to use a Dyson style vacuum cleaner to get the cash at bank closer to zero.
I think I will use Australian CCs for ATO and probably US CCs for land tax.

Just finished paying a 6 figure ATO account. Mrscove got the smallest chunk as I am trying to catch up to her Qantas stash. I did get 62500 Kris Miles too.

Does anyone perhaps have any idea when the 1:1 earn for the Amex Velocity Escape card switches to 0.5:1 for government payments? I seem to recall being advised it was mid-October?

I am a significant contributor to the ATO as well. Apart from the bereavement I feel every time I make a payment, I find the process time consuming and tedious - it is only my Krisflyer card which makes it all bearable.

My youngest son is coming over today and I have saved two quarterlies for him. I think he is quite happy to pay the ATO as long as I reimburse the outgoing. He has been using a Sydney based card and it has kept working nicely. He has started flying his girlfriend first class so his need for points and miles has doubled.

This month I get hit up with quarterlies and BAS so I am glad our CCs still work a treat. The CC that has a $12,000 limit is doing great and I am catching up to Mrscove with her Qantas stash. The bank computer hasn’t choked as I pre-load this card and pay chunks.

What are the latest recommendations for cards that can pay the ATO? Are there any that will give 1:1 Qantas points currently?

SG Amplify and it’s equivalent B of M runs up to .825 with the birthday 10% bonus.

BWW runs 0.66 QF points but certainly not one point a dollar.
Both CCs I have mentioned are uncapped.
I still use WBC Kris Amex which has been a winner for quite a few years but no new cards are being issued.

Tonight I finished all the bills by loading and then paying on 4 different CCs. Feeling impoverished but now I can go to the Qantas AGM without having to worry about some unpaid ATO.

I know this is ATO thread but anyway to reduce the 0.4% fee on Motor Rego via card payment...ie ANY visa\Mastercard trigger it? Giftcards????

I recently paid my registration in NSW at a Service NSW Office with an eftpos GC and was charged no fees. They can only split payment three ways so $100 superMarket ones will only get you so far if you’ve got a big bill.

I attempted today to pay $100 via EFTPOS Giftcard for Moto Rego in Vic at my local my post office and after entering on PC Post master said no go on split payment as per his computer screen?

You would need to find a post office with a few self-serve check out and do it when the post office is busy.. So no one would go and check your screen every time.
