How long do you stay in lounges before the flight?

Depends on the flight, class/seat, which airport it is, if I've been there before...

There's been some times where I've spent quite some time in a lounge.

Once did HEL-xLHR-xDXB-xLHR-xHKG-xNRT-xSIN-xPER-xMEL-CBR. Ticket/recheck split at NRT. Overnighted in the then CX Skyview lounge.
Last year, I had DFW-xDOH-OSL. 18 hour connection in the lounge. The previous time I'd been through DOH was just after the new airport opened, ORD-xDOH-CDG. 8 hours at DOH. (next time there is only 2 hours)

When I had a BA-QF misconnect in DXB, I was more then happy to stay in the lounge during the 24 hour delay (and EK lounge staff suggested it pointing out the quite/sleep room) QF insisted on giving me a hotel room.

The longest I've spent in an airport lounge was about 6-7 hours. I was transiting in LAX, having arrived from YVR and heading home to SYD. At that time, I was in the Virgin America (I think?) lounge. I don't know where the time went that day. Quite a few drinks and some time spent snacking and looking out at the airport and the hours just disappeared.

Generally for a domestic flight, it's probably about an hour. Enough time to enjoy a beverage or two and do some work/read a book before the flight.

Red eye connections PER-MEL/SYD and then on to the USA provide opportunity for lengthy lounge time.... Another reason to consider SE Asia stopovers...

Leaving the lounge for the plane really depends on the airport. Consider AA and the "current emphasis on timely departures" in relation to the time that boarding commences versus the "announced" time.

However in general, I'd rather be sitting in my seat on the plane, even if the lounge is "nice" so I try to get to the gate 5 minutes before boarding is (supposed to be) starting. Sometimes I'm early.....

Just wandering

Longest we have had was about 8 hours on the way back from Canada in 2016. As it was in the, then very new, CX Pier J Lounge it was a very pleasant way to pass the time.

American Airlines Said to Be Leaving Behind 20,000 Passengers a Month at the Gate - View from the Wing

* This means starting boarding before the time on customer boarding passes, show up at the gate at the assigned time and you may not have any overhead bin space since the plane is mostly boarded.

* But since American regularly fails to update flight delays until the last minute, customers often have to go to the gate to secure bin space only to find their inbound aircraft hasn’t even arrived yet.

Despite the airline’s push to depart exactly on time, the new earlier published check-in time meant to force passengers to the airport earlier, and improper processing of upgrades by rushed gate agents, the airline’s actual on time performance has been poor. Something is clearly wrong and we’ve known about it for two years.

If alone I love the attention and wait until I am paged and offload procedures have started. ;)

Game. That could end badly. There’s no guarantee that the cabin doors will stay open, or bridges attached, just becaue the holds have been reopened. And if the cabin door has closed, you can almost bet that it won’t be opened again.

LOL. I agree. Post was tongue in cheek.

Qantas always calls if I am running late. Virgin sometimes doesn't even page.

The one I hate the worst is when the aerobridge is still full of people and I'm paged or called.
