Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

I probably will let it go as it's not up there in the importance stakes but I'm one of those who likes answers when something doesn't seem right. It wasn't a capacity issue as I could see most of the lounge and there were about 6 people in there.

At the Emirates lounge now at DXB and boy is it big! Still lineups for the men's toilets and showers though.

Had a nice breakfast but nearly choked with all the smoking. Really hits you when you have become accustomed to no smoking in public eating areas.

What do you feel was not quite 'right' about the situation? It appears the airline changed its lounge in AMM and hasn't update their website. This is obviously some sort of contractual issue... both your boarding pass and lounge staff indicated the Crown Lounge. So it wasn't like the staff at the airport were making it up on the day. You could try asking at the reception in the Dubai Lounge.

We have booked a European trip on points and decided to stay over in Singapore for a few nights to see friends.

I'm trying to find out whether we can access any of the lounges at no extra cost.

- we are flying with Singapore to London in premium economy

- partner is Velocity Gold (I'm only red)

- we have an Amex Velocity Platinum card which allows us access to the Amex lounge in Sydney

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

Velocity Gold will get access, check out VA's lounge page here: https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/at-the-airport/international-lounge-access/

You won't get access to Singapore Airlines' Silver Kris lounges however. You'll be directed to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. This is a step down from the business class lounge, with more limited facilities. But still offering some of the basics such as snacks and drinks. I don't know if there are showers, but WCs are outside the lounge. You can find a review of the Krisflyer Gold lounge in this review here (about halfway down the page): The Ultimate Guide to Singapore Airlines Lounges in Singapore Changi Airport | LoungeBuddy

WP flying Kul-Sin-Adl with Kul-Sin on QF/3K codeshare with QF flight number. Does anyone know if I could get access to the MH F lounge? I recalled several years ago, they won't let me in and asked me to go to CX lounge instead, wondering if that's changed.

And you will also have access to the Singapore SilverKris lounge in Sydney, so you can save the Amex access for another time.

What I meant was when I read a website that says I can access the Petra lounge I expect to be able to access the Petra lounge. I dont think that is too much to ask of an organisation like Emirates who would engage enough IT people to update their web site as soon as something changes.

What I didnt say in the first post was that I had first gone to the Petra lounge knowing i couldnt get a boarding pass for another 6 hours on the (small) hope that my itinarary would get me in. It didnt but the gentleman said I would get in once I had my boarding pass ergo I returned much later in the knowledge that the lounge was closer to my gate and I was sick to death of walking around the airport.

Thanks for the lecture though.

No lecture. It was trying to understand what you felt was out of place. I wasn't sure if you thought perhaps the airport staff were doing something wrong.

From Sydney to Singapore we are only in Economy, would we still have this access? Or is this access due to Velocity Gold?
If so, which lounge would you recommend? (It will be the only international flight this year)

I have a whole heaps of flights coming up, w mixed airlines / classes. Do I have any other luck?

Flying BA economy from London heathrow to Hamburg
Flying Eurowings economy Hamburg to Stuttgart
Stuttgart to Oporto Ryan air
Lisbon to Pisa Easy Jet
Then Rome through to Sydney on Singapore in Business Class (I'm assuming this one won't be hard to find!)

Due to Velocity Gold.
The SQ lounge is bigger and has a better spread than the Amex lounge
Singapore Airlines SilverKris business class lounge, Sydney Airport

Coming back SQ Business you will get access to the better SilverKris lounge in SIN.

Don't think VA status will help you on any of those intra-Europe flights, unless of course you also hold QF status which would help with BA

SQ gives access to a contract lounge in Rome, which looks pretty average

No I wasn't annoyed with anyone. The lounge staff were all courteous and just doing their job. Just frustrated because I thought I should have been allowed entry.

I take your point about what was printed on my boarding pass but I thought I could be eligible to enter more than one lounge as on the outward trip we had a long stopover in HKG and had the choice of 5 lounges.

Thanks for replying and sharing your knowledge of these matters as I still have my L plates on. As an example I mentioned the smoking at Dubai but on the way out realised I was at the wrong end!

Currently enjoying a crownie in the Qantas lounge in Auckland. Much, much quieter than Dubai.

Reading this made me think, is there a website that gives you a list of lounges and what you need to access? I have seen lounge buddy and looked on programs websites such as Velocity but bidding that seems to cover many programs.

Cheers

If you hold sufficient status (usually gold and above) you are going to be entitled to lounge access provided you are flying within an airline alliance, or partner airlines within an informal alliance.

Once you work out the applicable alliance, the rest is easy.

If you don't have status, I isually Google the airport and something like 'paid lounge access'.

Outside of status, there are lounge membership programs like priority pass, but if you are a member of that you would already have a list of lounges. Buinsess class or higher will also come with lounge access.

Hi all, I thought I'd cross post this from another thread. This will be my first time flying in EU since obtaining status with VA and QF.

I'm looking at booking Iberia Express LGW-MAD on the lowest fare (express) no checked luggage included.
I'm QF SG, I believe I will get 1 checked bag up to 23kg, seat selection, lounge access etc. Question is, will my partner get the same benefits if booked on same itinerary?

I've not booked with IB before, but generally you can select the seats for all pax on your booking, based on your own status, but the baggage allowances will be based on the travel class or status of each pax

As a QF WP flying QF ticket & metal will I have access to:

1. Any LAX arrival lounge? Even a partner lounge.

2. LAX J or F on departure?

3. For either of the above, can I guest my partner and 4 y/o child travelling on same flights?

Thanks in advance.

This thread is too long (at 20 posts per page on a mobile) to be a useful reference so apologies if this has been asked previously.

The worst seems to be having VA gold. They keep changing the lounge options for o/s travel. I see if you fly EY out of BNE or MEL you don't get lounge access anymore.

I have no idea why VA find it so hard to provide the correct information, but I think what you linked to is one they got wrong. In the first table, it looks to me like they're only showing destinations they operate VA metal to, so AUH shouldn't even be there any longer?

Luckily, the parent page does show lounge access for departing on EY metal out of MEL (EY lounge) or BNE (NZ lounge):
