Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Property: Hilton Queenstown
Date: August
Status: Diamond
Booked: Lakeview $372
Received: Lakeview Suite

Very pleased with the property and the upgrade.
Excellent service in hotel and restaurant. There is a $5 coffee tax and the tea is a bit weak if you don't ask for an extra bag.
There is no lounge but I did get 2 free drinks tokens for the bar per night
The resort is a bit out of town. There are regular hotel shuttles, buses and a water-taxi (quickest) though. A private taxi costs about $45 each way.
There is only one lane to the bridge over the lake until a new one is built (possibly by end of year) which means you can get some delays connecting to airport and town

Hilton Brisbane
August 2017 1 night
Gold
Booked: Base King Room
Rate: HH Advanced Purchase Approx $260
Received: King Suite

As I started the check in process the manager came out from the back room and welcomed me and offered to upgrade me to the suite. Was pretty happy with that considering I booked the cheapest room. Offered a late afternoon checkout too but had a flight at 6am so couldn't take him up on the offer. Only my second stay at Brisbane Hilton and both times have been fantastic.

Conrad Hong Kong
August 2017 1 night
Booked: King Harbour View Room
Rate: HH Advanced Purchase approx $400
Received: High Floor King Deluxe Harbour View

Received the upgrade while picking up my key at the hotel and was offered access to the executive lounge even though service had finished approx 15 mins prior. Went up to the lounge and reception had phoned ahead so the lounge was expecting me - received two massive plates of food and endless amounts of alcohol. They said I could even take it to my room! Received all sorts of other nice little touches like free clothes pressing, shoe shining, fruit platter etc - late check out of 4pm offered and accepted too. Staff are fantastic, couldn't fault the place at all.

Hilton Garden Inn Singapore (Little India)
August 2017 1 night
Gold
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate:10000 points
Received: King Deluxe (bottled water provided)

Very impressed with this hotel which is newly renovated and reopened as a Hilton Garden Inn. We had some issues with the taxi from the airport refusing to take payment by card but the gentleman behind the desk dealt with it and just added the charge to our room which was much appreciated.

Hilton Garden Inn Times Square NYC
August 2017 2 nights
Gold
Booked: King Guest Room with breakfast
Rate:$75/night (booked via Amex)
Received: No amenities as not booked direct.
Cooked to order breakfast was really good. Rooms are small. We had the odd situation of not having any cold water in the room, so you couldnt use the shower (it was scaldingly hot). They fixed it the first night but the problem returned the second night and after a bit of discussion they moved us into another room.

Hilton Garden Inn Marina Del Ray
August 2017 2 nights
Gold
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: pre-paid sale
Received: King Bungalow (bottled water provided by the desk, and in room both nights)
Cooked to order plus buffet available for breakfast. Staff were all lovely. Parking is a little steep at $18/night but convenient. We hired bikes from the hotel to ride along the beach which is something I've always wanted to do.
For some reason this stay hasnt yet credited to my account despite showing as a past stay....

Property: Hilton Auckland
Date: late-August, one night.
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Harbour View
Received: King Harbour View.

Arrived just after 2pm and advised no upgrade and room not ready. But in contrast to previous stay was given an additional 2 vouchers to get something from the bar, so was able to enjoy a coffee and keep an additional voucher for the evening.
Used remaining vouchers late in the evening (which was appreciated) for coughtails rather than wine.

Free wine and chocs in room. Water and chocs on turndown. Full buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Usual superb service. Coffee tax waived.

Was one night only so no upgrade wasn't an issue. Exec lounge was large with good food and drinks.

I have recently achieved Gold status with Hilton via a challenge. I was Gold once before but was unable to take advantage of the benefits. I hate to sound like an infrequent flyer, but I was wondering what benefits I would expect for stays at DT MEL and HSYD.

I have looked on the Hilton website but cannot see any mention of free breakfast. This is the benefit in which I am most interested. Otherwise, I would prefer to stay elsewhere for a better price.

Hilton Tokyo Bay
September 2017, 2 nights
Gold
Booked: Happy Magic Room (Park View)
Rate: $200/night
Received: access to executive lounge

We didn't get an upgrade, which was fine since we don't need a room with a bunkbed, and I negotiated access to the lounge instead (saved us food spending). The website describes our room is suitable for 3 adult guests but I'm pretty sure it could fit 6 of us! We got chocolate madeleines as an in-room welcome gift and unlimited water bottles.

I specifically chose the Park View so my nephew can watch the fireworks in the evening (which he loved). The Happy Magic Room also comes with amenities for kids like a witch-shaped sponge and toothbrush, whereas the Celebrio Room look catered for couples and adults. The hotel itself is a little outdated with cracks, moulding and discolourations

Breakfast at the lounge was fantastic as you have options between basic Japanese (miso soup, natto, rice, omelette), Chinese (congee) or western (cereal, sausage, scramble eggs) breakfast. Evening canapés varies everyday, first night was boring sandwiches/rolls and second night had pizza and garlic 'prawns'. At the lounge my nephew received a box of Lego as a gift.

Overall had a decent stay and recommended for those visiting Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea.

Gold gets you free continental breakfast. At HSYD if you're upgraded/given EL access that means breakfast in the lounge which does include a few hot options.

You need to preselect your benefit online using the MyWay function.

At Hilton & Doubletree Hotels a Gold can choose between 1000 points OR a complimentary continental breakfast.

Booked: Cheapest (Twin inside)
Rate: $160
Received: Flinders station view King. I was flagged as having room 905 allocated when doing OLCI. As that is across the hall from the elevator I aborted. It stuck when I turned up at the hotel so when I mentioned its location I was offered 1101. My profile states away from elevator, so it was disappointing to have that room pre-allocated.

I was given drinks vouchers (3x but I think normal issue is 2x)

Cooked to order eggs for breakfast, and no coffee tax. Well at least a charge for coffee was not mentioned so I don't know if they just forgot. I did have one of my vouchers ready just in case.

.
Those vouchers were very useful this trip as JT and I managed to get everyone pre-dinner drinks from our combined supplies. I was given 5 (2/night + 1 for coffee when I checked in and the room wasn't ready). Also thanks for the heads up on keeping the vouchers for future use, I used to return them the unused ones but now I know. Will have to rebuild stock as my supplies have completely run out this trip :)

All the below stays were as Gold.

Hilton LHR Airport
September 2017 1 night
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Deluxe Room
Rate: Approx 120GBP

No exec lounge access. 2 x bottles of water in room. Asked for a taxi in the morning to terminal 3 as I was running late and was escorted to a waiting Mercedes, told it would cost 15 GBP if paid in cash of 20 if paid by card. Arrived at airport and driver charged 20 even though I paid in cash. Emailed hotel to complain and was offered a free upgrade next time I stay. Replied asking for 20 GBP refund instead and was granted.

DoubleTree Suites Santa Monica
September 2017 4 nights
Booked: 2 Queen bed suite
Received: 2 Queen bed suite
Rate: $280US per night

Hotel was booked out so staff apologised for no upgrade. Received daily full buffet breakfast for 2 each day. We had friends stay with us for 2 nights and one morning they comp'd all breakfasts, the other morning they were charged. Can't complain at all, staff were great and good location. Early check in at 2pm

Hampton Inn Los Angeles/Hollywood
September 2017 2 nights
Booked: 1 King studio suite
Received: 1 King studio suite
Rate: $195US p/n

Early check in not available, didn't require late check out. Was not offered the snacks/water as Gold member, after the first night housekeeping staff cleaned the bathroom and removed all soaps, shampoos etc (even the unused ones) leaving nothing. Tried calling reception however phone in room didn't work so had to go downstairs and ask for replacements. Otherwise it's a decent hotel about 10 mins walk from Hollywood Blvd

Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City
September 2017 1 night
Booked: Base King Room
Received: Base King Room
Rate: $244US

Received 2 x bottles of water, no exec lounge access. Free continental breakfast but paid $10 per person for full buffet. Nice hotel with great pool/spa/pool bar. Breakfast was awesome too. Only stayed to be close to Universal and use free shuttle but we actually walked from Universal back to the hotel afterwards and it only took 5-10 mins.

This seems to be a change for the worse that I've noticed as well. Some time ago, using OLCI, the app would show all available rooms and we could pick the one we wanted the most. For some time now, I've noticed it seems to show just the computer generated preselected room, which often is not one I'd normally prefer, so more and more I'm finding I'm not using the OLCI.

The option in your profile preferences that used to be away from elevator now reads close to elevator. Mine was not checked but I am still getting a room next to them in pre-selection but I can change in the app. no problem using OLCI.

I shouldn't have quoted the bit about the elevators, as that was not really the point I was making. It's more that we used to have a choice of rooms with OLCI, but of late, there seems to continually only be one option ... the one the computer has assigned, despite there being many other options (confirmed at the desk). I'd like to go back to all available rooms being shown on the OLCI map so we can choose the one which suits us best.

I still show multiple rooms available to select. I have changed to an iPhone recently after using a galaxy which I found would not allow me to change rooms and figured it was the phone due to issues with poor reception.

Wow. A 33% credit card surcharge. Good thing you didn't order coffee.

Didn't someone here report that the Conrad Singapore was in the process of having rooms updated?

I've seen something about that too although I'm not sure that it's started yet.
