Asking on befalf of someone who has made a rewards booking using EK miles on EK flight numbers and on EK metal. Even though he used Skywards to book the ticket, he's asked for his QFF number (Plat) added to the PNR. Can he use any of the perks that come with QF Plat?

Which perks? First class lounge access. Complimentary seat selection but not necessarily bulkhead or exit row until check-in.

The booking is a rewards booking using Skyward miles, which I guess means the ticket is not QF marketed nor with QF flight number. Even though the QFF number has been added to the PNR (via call centre), QF web site cannot find the EK record; this is not surprising as the record locator is not from Amadeus. The itinerary on EK web site does not provide any preferred seating nor any extra luggage allowance. EK call centre said as this is entirely an EK ticket, QFF perks are not provided. What do you think?

I think I agree with EK if it's a Skywards points booking. If your friend had used QFF points for the booking then WP benefits should apply.

Lounge access might be granted on showing EK boarding pass and QF WP card.

I purchased a standalone EK ticket HKG-BKK return in economy. I added my QFF number and received lounge access and complimentary pre-allocated seats when I called them.

Wife and daughter were also flying the HKG-BKK leg on a QF award ticket which I linked to my booking when I called them and we pre-allocated bassinet.

I know this is an EK award flight but should not be any different to my experience. The ticket I purchased was ~AUD250 so very cheap ticket.

Looks like I have difficulty getting Amadeus PNR for the booking. Given EK PNR, any idea how I can obtain the corresponding QF PNR?

There will not be a Qantas PNR since this this is an EK ticketed booking on EK flight number with EK metal.

If an Amadeus client carrier had been part of the travel then there would be something.

For example I have an MH booking on MH flight number with MH metal. Since MH use Amadeus and my QFF number is entered then the booking shows on Qantas.com.

If you've used EK miles etc, then the booking is entirely EK. QF has nothing to do with it and no QF privilege applies. There's no agreement for QF flyers when using EK points. You pick your alliance and you are stuck with it. Apart, of course, for lounge access if you are WP.

Asise from the lounge access bit, that is contrary to what is published here (with the caveat in relation to route):

That gives me an idea; I *might* be able to add a domestic QF leg to the end of the itinerary without much extra cost... we'll see...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Don't agree. IMHO if you've booked using EK points, you can't add your QF WP status since the whole booking is on EK, nothing to do with QF. Th benefits apply to normal paid bookings not EK Skyward rewards bookings.

QF number has indeed been added to the EK PNR (by calling their Australian number). It was confirmed in a subsequent call (the operator could easily see my QF number in the EK PNR).

Read the published links i posted. There is no award caveat.

The bennies apply to travel on EK metal on EK and QF marketed flights on the defined routes.

The main difference between EK and QF flight numbers is that ~ and SC are not earned on EK marketed flights in eligible fare buckets; that is moot for awards in any case.

'Sure can, but it only allows selection of "normal" seat and it does not show any extra luggage allowance.
Note that in the last month or so seat selection availability has changed and QF elites no longer have online access to the same seats on EK that they had a month ago.

I can see this on some revenue bookings in economy I have in November.

Whether it is an award booking or paid booking is irrelevant. They would both be treated the same.
