Emirates need customer service wake up

I recently flew my family with Emirates to Bangkok from Sydney in first class using points. It was a mix of business and pleasure. I had a meeting at 10am on the morning I arrived at 1am so I chose first class( business was not available) to ensure a good sleep before meeting.

I have also been in business for many years and would never attempt to have a 10am meeting after landing at BKK at 1am. I highly doubt I could nod off and be in the correct frame of mind for a business meeting. Did you consider flying the previous day/night allowing some time to relax?

Sorry to hear you had this experience.

Perhaps the lady should have moved to the lounge. Perhaps the lady should have walked around to try and comfort the infant. I don't know, I'm not an expert.

Infants are very unpredictable. On my daughter's first long haul flight at 2 months of age she was screaming for the first 6 hours. What do I do? I walked her around the cabin a few times and she calmed down but would start screaming again. I did the best I could but I'm sure the people sitting around us would have had a disruptive. All I coukd do is when walking past them stop for a few seconds and apologise and my daughter would be curious and stop screaming. I also took daughter to the galley a few times.

I too might feel a bit miffed if I had paid for an expensive airfare on a night flight, but then was unable to sleep at all.

Ideally it might have been a nice gesture for Emirates to offer some token in acknowledgement that you felt unhappy with the flight.... realistically they would then have to do that for every complaint that was not about service but circumstance.

However I feel for the poor Mum - no one sets out to have an infant cry incessantly in a confined space, so I am sure it was a stressful flight for her too. I have offered to help settle a young baby on other flights - easier for a female to do admittedly.

If I book a flight very close to an important event, I try to make sure it is a day time flight when an unsettled baby is not so much of a nuisance.

I too am a parent of young children so I empathise with your anxiety about getting them to sleep. But I equally empathise with the mother of the screaming child - we've all been there. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad and move on. I've caught that EK flight numerous times and it still arrives relatively early in the morning so it is very feasible for wife and child to catch up on their 40 winks with a big sleep in. Unless of course your decision to arrange a 10.00 morning meeting put paid to even that. Should EK cop an earful for that too?

Sorry for sounding insensitive but your plight is a little difficult to sympathise with. I hope you got to enjoy the city of angels nonetheless.

Apologies to the OP for hijacking this thread, but just wanted to put my two bits worth in on the level of customer service on Emirates.

Had two recent flights in J (from DXB-BKK / BKK-SYD). First time flying Emirates so was really looking forward to an amazing experience (especially as on the A380). I have to say I was really disappointed with the level of customer service on both flights. Was really hit and miss. Some of the crew were friendly, but some just didn't seem to want to be there - really felt like an inconvenience to them (so sorry I asked you for a second drink). Absolutely appreciate that people can have a bad day, but given it was a first time experience with Emirates (and in J), it wasn't just one of the crew, and was over two different flights, definitely has me looking at alternative airlines for the J experience in future.
