That's a very good point, i contemplated adding Istanbul to my comparison list, but skipped it because of the necessity for two stops into Central Asia. With Turkish hopefully launching in Australia this year, maybe a direct flight to Istanbul will be possible in the coming years.
Thank you @elanshin and @Mattg (I hope you have a lovely trip).
Based on your feedback, i've gone through and mapped each possible route (classic flight reward and then paid fare to the destination. I've added my workings into the post in case it's helpful for anyone else looking to explore the...
Hi all,
I am in the initial stages of planning a bucket list trip to Central Asia in 2024/25, landing in Almaty, Astana, Samarkand or Tashkent. I've got no status, but a large volume of Qantas points which I am hoping to utilise for a classic flight reward seat to get as close as possible to one...
It's a milestone birthday this year for me, and with Covid and addition to our family, i haven't travelled in a few years. So, my resolution is to change that and celebrate my milestone on the road (somewhere)!
A quick flight from Tehran to Baku in 2015 saw an extremely large man travel with a filled garbage bag as carry on.
I say an extremely large man as in addition to the ignominy of not fitting the seatbelt extender and being wedged into the two seats of the Embraer we were on, as another...
It shouldn't count but in 2015 I flew AZAL IKA-GYD in first class. Information was scant but it was about $100 and that was what the corporate TA booked.
Excited, upon getting to the airport I discovered that First Class literally just meant that baggage was included...
I used to frequently arrive in Doha around that time and used to stay in the DoubleTree by Hilton Doha - Old Town. It used to be about a 10 minute taxi ride away from the airport, but walking distance to the Museum of Islamic Art and Old Town.
Out of interest, I decided to look up what my options were as I have dropped to bronze status due to the pandemic and having cut back flying following the birth of my son The options were nonexistent.
For anyone going, don't disregard Tunisia as an opponent. They just defeated Japan 3-0...
2016: PVG-LHR on BA. The flight is delayed but that's ok. I get onboard looking forward to a Doctor Who marathon; only to be told that the IFE is not working in economy. Apparently the gate staff were supposed to make an announcement so we could prepare alternatives. However it was never made...
+1 for Tayyabs, that was my go to when I lived in London and I still miss the lamb chops. The ambience and service isn't great, but the price was right and there was no corkage charge when you BYO.
