AirAsia X 'Premium Flatbed' - ex-PAL business class

It looks like they aren't using these planes to Melbourne anymore (excluding the occasional substitution). AirAsia likely wants to use their (more dense) standard configuration over the busy summer period. Source: Live Flight Tracker - Real-Time Flight Tracker Map | Flightradar24

AirAsia X 'Premium Flatbed' - ex-PAL business class

Just a heads up, according to FlightRadar24, the two planes in question appear to have a slightly different rotation in the last few weeks. They still go to MEL often, but looks like they have introduced a Taipei run and reduced the visits to SYD. The seat map should give a better idea, look...

AirAsia X 'Premium Flatbed' - ex-PAL business class

AirAsia X "Premium Flatbed" review - ex-Philippine Airlines (PAL) A330 cabin I recently needed to fly to Europe (to FRA and return from LHR), and finding it impossible to secure J reward tickets ex-Australia via Velocity, I took a different tack and opted to fly to Kuala Lumpur where I was able...

    AirAsiaX seating

AirAsia are flying two ex-Philippine Airlines (PAL) A330's, pretty much exactly as PAL last used them, including lie flat suites in "Premium Flatbed"! Currently they are used between KUL and MEL, ICN (Seoul), SYD with some recent appearances to OOL and KIX (Osaka). You can search 9M-XBF and...

    Etihad Lounge KUL Review

FYI, Etihad has now switched to the Malaysia Airlines Satellite Golden Lounge in KUL. I'm guessing it happened very recently (July 1?). I was pleasantly surprised to be informed of that on check-in.

How do I claim travel delay expenses?

I just got a claim processed for one in early June so 8 weeks sounds about right.

    Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

It was just checked luggage. According to the Jetstar booking system, VA paid Jetstar $175 to ferry me to OOL (vs the $600 I originally paid for the sector) I've just sent VA a message asking for a partial refund due to business class amenities/service not provided. Not expecting to get the...

    Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

It is JQ450. Went up to the lounge desk asking what the mysterious VA9851 was and the lady said "That's Jetstar! Thank god you came up now" Asked if I was told it was Jetstar.. "Umm no, she (other lounge rep) didn't tell me", turns to the other lady at the desk who wrote VA9851 on my BP at the...

    Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

Looks like I got the short end of the stick :( VA 743 MEL-OOL first delayed from 13:10 to 13:45 and then cancelled Rebooked on VA9851 20:15->22:15. VA9851 doesn't exist in the schedule, so I reckon I've actually been rebooked onto JQ450 which matches exactly. Nice smokescreen there VA! Worse...

Velocity Global Wallet is closing down in 2021

It was one of the only ways to amass points for daily spend if you couldn't qualify for a rewards CC (e.g if a student), I got thousands of points out of it for a while until circumstances allowed me to get a 'real' card. Also handy for use in overseas ATMs that sometimes got confused with...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Reserve was available standalone via professional associations until Jan 2017 - I have one (do not qualify for the charge.. yet!) As I recall you could pick QF or Ascent at signup, there has never been an option to swap Ascent points for QF points unlike the Plat Charge.

    Aldi commercial - Pointless Points

I recall one of the Flybuys 'year in review' emails putting me in the top 3% in points earn (courtesy of $50x4= 10k promotions). For someone who has a relatively low grocery spend ($40-$60/wk) its crazy that most households aren't extracting much value of it. So I can see where Aldi is coming from.

    Stretching the B737 fleet

Apparently the eldest one (VH-FNP, 1993 build) is subsidised by Airbus as a case study for airframe life! It appears to be one of the few (still flying) A320's of that vintage not operated by a big airline such as LH, DL, UA or AC. There are so many A32xNeos and 737-Max being built right now so...

    Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

Indeed you are right, it was 1536. 1537 just pushed back at HBA.
