    Velocity Redemption on Hawaiian Airlines

My thoughts after we flew HA J back in April (AKL-HNL and HNL-SYD) I posted here: Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin Australia expand codeshare agreement Both Mrs & I standby taking the long way home should we ever go back.

    Velocity Redemption on Hawaiian Airlines

It adds to the confusion, but I redeemed AKL-HNL-KOA in J on HA. Definitely wasn't from AU as had to take QF for a positioning flight to AKL for it.

What’s your experience of points chasing for Krisflyer?

Never put all your eggs in one basket. The best flight is the one thats available on the dates you need. QF are too easy to accumulate to ignore completely, and I've found good availability using partners for what we're redeeming. KF has always delivered for me, but the harder accumulation...

    Qantas Premier Credit Card

I know there is hesitation to apply for another Citi backed card in quick succession, but can confirm I was approved for this card despite closing another Citi product (flyer card) within the last two months.

Itinerary for Japan - feedback please

The sumo is great fun. Definitely a do once while your there if it fits in with your itinerary. Same as baseball - had more fun at a Tokyo Giants game in Tokyo than we did a Yankees game in NY.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Booked PVG-SIN-MEL in J for my mum last night for her to return post a trip next year. I'm 98% sure I selected the correct flight out of PVG, but somehow it booked her on one 6hrs earlier that she cannot make. Realised immediately - called up KF Sydney number, all sorted out in under 10mins...

Itinerary for Japan - feedback please

We knew it was scaffolded before we got there... but not everyone did. The trip to the Torii gate at Miyajima was almost worthwhile solely for the 'oh my god how can it be closed my trip is ruined'-esque heated discussions that were happening with some people aboard the JR Ferry. Mt Misen...

Itinerary for Japan - feedback please

Whilst its not a long travel time between cities in Japan, its still a lot of moving around (check out/transfer to JR Station/get subway to new accommodation/check in, etc). I personally would go max 4 cities (Osaka/Kyoto I see as one due to very close proximity) in that timeframe... ideally 3...

Upcoming trip to Taipei – Advice welcome on things to do, transport, food and accommodation options

There was an ATM in the foyer of terminal 2 once you pass through customs. One thing I noticed is they aren't scared to charge ATM fees - 100 TWD per withdrawal was common. Make sure you've got your ING card to waive those fees!

Upcoming trip to Taipei – Advice welcome on things to do, transport, food and accommodation options

After the last three days exploring the city, I'd certainly come back for an extended trip of Taiwan and explore further south - mountains and beaches. Taipei gave us a great three days at the end of our trip, even Mrs tizey agrees which surprised me a little. If nothing else, than I'd be...

UA economy awards on EVA - what baggage?

EVA check in staff said 30kg each until I showed them the baggage allowance as shown in the United app being 35kg. Then they were ok with it once they saw it for both of us. Very strange though - they were very, very strict on 7kg max for carry on baggage, requiring some last minute shifting...

Upcoming trip to Taipei – Advice welcome on things to do, transport, food and accommodation options

Similar to the Yamato takk-q-bin of Japan, hotel to airport using Taiwan's equivalent? Luggagent

Upcoming trip to Taipei – Advice welcome on things to do, transport, food and accommodation options

No probs at all. We know the effects of the typhoon all too well... A 2.5hr direct flight became a 12.5hr beast getting to Ishigaki yesterday. Enjoy Taipei!!

Upcoming trip to Taipei – Advice welcome on things to do, transport, food and accommodation options

Dr Ralph, if you've not yet arrived in Taipei as yet, are you able to give a view on duty free alcohol on your way in available at TPE, particular attention of there is any Japanese whiskey?
