    SQ 777-300 "Refitted"?

Hello all, I was booked on economy SQ228 (Mel-Sin) early april on an A380. It turns out that the aircraft has been changed to a "Refitted 777-300". Does anyone know what the refit entails, and would I be better off trying to change to SQ238 for a better economy experience? Luckily on the...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

What I'm curious about is whether or not the Wizard-but-now-GE Clear Advantage still has the no international fee structure that made it such an attractive card for o/s use in the past. I'm not such a frequent overseas traveler that I can easily test this out so am hoping some of the more...

Unscheduled toilet stop for Qantas jet

And speaking of toilets, my boss was on the flight from Perth that had to turn back after 45 minutes in the air because of no water on board.

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

I think we might dump the card anyway, it's just been too much hassle. First, after we activated the primary card, the secondary card wouldn't activate. Then, we sent in the identification forms for both primary and secondary cards separately - they lost them both, we had to redo them and fax...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

We applied recently and they gave us a $13,000 limit  It took some haggling through their overseas call centre but we got it reduced down to $500. We only want it for o/s cash withdrawals.

    Centurion is now Titanium

My boss recently received his titanium card and showed it to me, and we also theorised about the airport scanners too - although generally the wallet goes into the tray and through the x-ray machine separate from the walk-through scanner. We also thought, what if you sharpened up the edges of...

Tiger Off To A False Start

I don't know about a false start, when they first announced PER-SIN flights my wife & I jumped on the bandwagon and got the $19+tax return flights. The arrival time into Singapore is horrid but it saved us over a grand. I can live with that.

    AMEX 17,500 points offer

Well I duly got the $195 fee on my first statement too. I just rang the guy - and I'd love to know where in the world he was because it was a really strange accent that defied identification - and he reversed it on the spot. He also told me that my card hadn't been activated, which was bizarre...

New Qantas Amex promo - Free flight on application

And of course, not a whole lot of use if you don't live on the east coast!

There's a new card in town

Damn but those Earth cards are ugly. The mastercard is a weird horrible plasticky pale blue and the amex is only marginally better with a dark purple/grape colour.

    Travel Insurance and Credit Cards

See my post earlier about this - it's relevant to the Earth+. My wife & I decided to go with the Earth+ rather than the standard Earth because the insurance suited our needs. It's certainly generally not as comprehensive or offers as much compensation as a standalone policy, but for our needs...

    AMEX 17,500 points offer

Mine arrived yesterday, just about dead on the advertised 10 working days timeframe (which is fine by me). Interestingly they didn't contact my workplace to verify any details, but then again I didn't get a large credit limit either, not that I wanted one. I'll certainly be keeping my eye out...

Earning flight points for someone else's flight

Update: it turns out the rellies will be flying a combination of BA and Qantas. Itinerary is LHR-HKG-SIN-PER-BNE-AKL-SIN-LHR or similar, don't care about the points for the flights for themselves and are happy to pass them on, so that should be a nice little earner :)
