Thanks for your thoughts and information. My main concern with VA is they only fly to ASP 3 times a week and with Qantas i can leave at 1.30pm on the Friday and be back in ASP at lunchtime on Monday. It is food for thought and i will have to weigh up both options.

I believe it would be very close. As an example Sydney - Singapore is 3916 miles by google and the VA calculator says 3912 miles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it will allow you to book the return flight on the same day. OOL you can sit in the lounge for a hr or 2 and get on the return leg.

I would think a quick trip up to the Gold Coast and back would do it. Their are plenty of flights and quite cheap. Just received a V-mail saying from $79 to fly between April and June.
