Trying to allocate seats on an international economy flight as a oneworld Emerald, seat selection initially appears to be free but once you get to the final confirmation screen there is a "price change".
Couldn't find a workaround, so asked the Qantas Facebook rep to allocate seats for me.
When I search on those dates I can only see economy class availability for 45,000 each way (-10% platinum discount). The economy flights show up even if I select premium only, which is slightly misleading.
Should domestic upgrades still be confirmed instantly when award seats are available in a higher class? If so are there any caveats like married segments or international connections?
I wanted to book a business award NZ - SYD - PER and couldn't despite seats being available on both flights...
Looks like there is only "flexi award" (double points) availability for 2 seats in December/January, but never 3.
But you might be able to get something at the last minute (eg there are currently 3 seats available on PER-HEL every day from Nov 8 - Nov 12).
I note that all those listing their successful redemptions over the last several years have QF Platinum in their profile. I've pretty much given up on using QF points on anything international due to lack of availability.

I saw it on Expertflyer and ITA Matrix but haven't tried to book it. It is coming up a bit more expensive on the Finnair website (~A$2400). And once again it is only originating from Oslo.
Finnair business class OSL-HEL-SIN return from $2154, books in I class. Must depart from Oslo on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
This fare can be combined with economy fares from Australia on a half-round trip basis, for example PER-MUC in economy, and OSL-SIN in business for $1578...
