It’s a lot easier to book reward travel as two one-ways if there are different destinations.
Try SYD-SIN and MLE-SYD as two seperate searches. I can find business availability for both.
Highly recommend not doing a KrisFlyer transfer - it’s a very inefficient use of points here.
You can use it on both. If you’re platinum, it can be done over the phone. At the airport, they can only fly you ahead on your departing flight. So, you’ll have to ask at CBR for the first leg, then at SYD for the second.
I’ve done so many times successfully. Safe travels!
Yes, most VA flights are going out checkers in J after upgrades clear. PER base has the highest paid J rate of the four capitals.. so I’m not sure you’re on the money here mate 🤙🏻
QR rewards are more expensive than VA/UA rewards. The OP doesn’t have enough points to burn regardless.
If it were me, I’d use to points to get to SE Asia and book paid flights from there.
Singapore, United and (hopefully v soon) ANA flights will accrue status credits and points. I have also...
As you mentioned, you’d need to fly via Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney. As such, this requires two certificates per passenger, each way. Platinums are given four free each year, so you won’t be able to upgrade every flight for both of you.
In terms of availability… if you can find Business...
I appreciate a lot of my reaction is on ET for - again - breaking embargo. But blimey … this is lacklustre.
So much opportunity to be the JetBlue/flyDubai of our region ! A cool cabin map to match the cabin crew.. but nada.
Come ON, they’d be better off on autopilot at this point 😅
I often connect via BNE for the daytime flight to Bali. Personally, I don’t see the need for the concern. It’s always been around 15min from arriving domestic to arriving at the international terminal for me.
My advice is to relax if you’re on one ticket, you have plenty of time. VA don’t tend...
You’ll need the SQ booking reference and will then be able to select seats on the SQ website. It will be somewhere on your eticket, if not the VA centre should be able to find it for you.
It’s not very intuitive but is possible.
Check in is located at the same place, then follow the signage down the escalator to security. It’s fairly intuitive and - I find - much quicker now if using the priority line.
Once through security you’ll be in the food and retail precinct. Gates 1-10 are to the right. Gates 11-20 are on the...

There’s an essay I read a couple years ago about how the Qantas marketing has really sucked in the working and middle class Australian market.
As above, they charge premium more often than not (this isn’t cherry picking). The product just doesn’t add up these days.
