Thanks Matt I have 120k+ QFF points. The employer has pre-approved a "direct" flight from Melbourne to NYC (via LAX). I want to stop at LAX for a week, then continue my leg to NYC. So I believe a flex ticket will allow for the stopover at no extra cost. However, if I don't buy a flex ticket...
