VA MEL T3/T4 is now like QFd

I thought it was actually T4's security? It takes you through to T4's airside retail area and then you have to turn right and walk back through the T3-T4 corridor (now without the security it used to have) to get to the VA lounge and gates 1-10. It's a horrible layout for VA departures...

What is this "space" next to this seat - A350-900?

In the old days this was one of those Boeing vs Airbus differences - On the Boeing 747 they had the void like the photo above but the cabin taper is far more pronounced so usually only one row would get any significant void there. On aircraft like the A300/A310/A330/A340 the usual layout was...

Virgin Australia to be sold to Bain Capital

A huge red flag that one. Both price and availability are now big question marks over this. Either way, it is no longer the credit that was offered.

    2021 Membership Packs

Ditto. I've never received a replacement card prior to expiry, but the one in my Apple Wallet is Gold.

Virgin Australia to be sold to Bain Capital

Yep, I sold all my Virgin Australia shares in 2012, a few months after this structure was set up and to this day Computershare still records that I'm an (Australian) owner of beneficial interests in Virgin Australia International Holdings, the shares themselves owned by a trust company. It...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

For the reasons you describe, I would imagine Amex would fight the consumer much harder. For the record, while this may be true under the ACL, this doesn't hold under the card scheme rules. A failure to supply is just that. The supplier having T&Cs saying they can make do with offering a...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

I think you underestimate how many people already know this, or indeed how many people directly remember that chargebacks saved a lot of ticketholders in the Ansett collapse. It's not a secret.

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

Shows it can be done despite some doubters. Just remember you do have to request the refund from the airline first. If they refuse, then you can initiate the chargeback process with your bank.

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

Yes (except where regional specifics are noted in the rules), or where actually prevented by law. It’s the Issuer who suffers the most consequences for accepting chargebacks where the cardholder didn’t comply with the rules, so cardholders definitely should not expect their Issuer to accept...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

The failure to supply the service is already a valid ground under the scheme rules. The conditions of contract do not have relevance under the scheme rules. A merchant cannot make conditions of contract that override scheme rules, or if they do, they don't apply. They agree to the scheme...

These are not valid extrapolations from what the EU has determined. "Extraordinary circumstances" is a key concept in the EU Passenger Rights laws that specifically impacts the compensation provisions of those rights. It doesn't impact the Right to assistance or passenger choice of...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

I don't see how you've come to that, but that's okay, you're free as a cardholder to choose not to lodge a chargeback request with your issuer - that's definitely your choice to make. It's quite clear that others are making different choices and are being successful, as per the card rules. Of...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

Doesn't make a lick of difference in the card scheme rules. The service wasn't provided and it doesn't matter why the Merchant was unwilling or unable to do so. To dispute a chargeback raised under this provision, the Merchant has to prove that the service was provided. Each scheme has its...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I flew with Indigo around new year and was pretty impressed - I was expecting a Tiger/Ryanair experience, but it wasn't that at all. Certainly a pay-for-the-features-you-want model, but agreed - attention to customer service, attention to on time running, just attention to detail overall. I'd...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

ACL covers general responsibilities on providers of goods and services. There are some obligations for refunds under ACL, but the general position seems to be that in this instance a travel credit satisfies the ACL. Credit card scheme rules are contractual agreements that underpin the schemes...
