That's definitely a sad story but I am confused how they thought that they would be covered if they weren't actively holding the card with insurance.

Like I don't want to seem like I'm doubting OP at all, it's just that I'm trying to wrap my head around the series of events which lead to the want to punch out of providing income verification to Amex after paying a significant amount of money in annual fees.

They were a pain in the cough to use, although the free copy of The Australian was good (to use as bird cage lining :p ).

The whole series of events is really weird. OP, it seemed like you were pretty sure that your accounts would be closed back in August. If I can ask, why did you think this back then?

I've used Amex Travel outside of the travel credit, and I've found it to be approximately as good as other aggregators after you factor in other fees etc. I do agree, however, that more information on the rooms would be helpful.

Same here, I've messaged Amex about it and the CSR made a request to the relevant team. They reckon it could be another 2 weeks until I hear something, so the can has been kicked down the street a little while longer.

I'll have to follow up, as it's still pending for me.

Just got this on my Explorer, not on my essential card. Spend $250 at Amex Travel, get $50 back.

This happens from time to time, although I've still had transactions counting for LC go through when that button is not available. I also find that I can use the map view in LC to try and add places when the "Find new places" or whatever glitches out. It works sometimes...

Maybe I skipped over it/didn't pay enough attention, but it appeared that my HH number was already pre-filled, although I'd already linked my HH account to MR.

Wow! This is actually pretty good to know! I've generally had pretty good experiences when calling Amex, but I was unaware that this can be requested. Thanks!

Slightly off-topic, but likely because they don't offer good reward rates :p I didn't have any issues at all when using the QF card overseas a few years back.
