    Mini Trip Report LAX-SFO-BNE-PQQ-SYD-OOL-SYD-LAX (UA/QF/AA)

Currently living In Los Angeles, did a visit home to the Gold Coast for a couple of weeks in February with my wife and 3-year-old kid. LAX-SFO-BNE on UA: Booked LAX-BNE direct in Polaris Velocity points (and Aeroplan points for my kid and wife). Unfortunately, LAX-BNE was cancelled (I think...

Article: CommBank Awards Isn’t Ideal for Frequent Flyers

Yeah the only reason I have one is because it is included in my mortgage package fee and because the travel insurance is (or at least was) great due to the fact you didn't need to make the flight purchase on the card. I've gotten 12 months of free travel insurance for the family out of it for...

Article: CommBank Awards Isn’t Ideal for Frequent Flyers

Wow 5:1 for Emirates. That really is poor value. For me, the Velocity redemptions at 2:1 are still decent value, and it's nice having options for AF/KLM Flying Blue (2.5:1) and United (3.5:1) in Australia. I could also imagine occassionally topping up my IGH or Bonvoy accounts from CBA awards...

Article: Why Airlines Love European Business Class

Agreed. I remember a lovely weekend I had in Bordeaux, flying from LGW for a similar price.

Hypothetical: If you were to start an airline, what would you do?

I think you misunderstood. The new Australian-based airline would fly to Bangkok, and coordinate schedules and ticketing with EVA Air for their flights from their Bangkok focus city to Europe (specifically the nonstop services to LHR, VIE and AMS).

Hypothetical: If you were to start an airline, what would you do?

Oh I thought you made it! I was wondering why it was a 737 and not an A321. It looks like my idea is not very original. I guess I should have googled it before deciding on a name.

Love your work @Guvner ! That looks great! 🤩 Haha yes I did think of that saying as I was writing this post. Luckily for me it's purely hypothetical because I don't have any fortunes, large or small. 😄

Hypothetical: If you were to start an airline, what would you do?

It's good to see Bonza doing seemingly well in the Australian market with their rather different business model. It got me thinking, it could make an interesting thread for the experts here. If you were to start an airline, what would you do differentiate? Apologies if this has been asked...

Article: Why Airlines Love European Business Class

I honestly don't mind Eurobusiness. Sure, it's not as good as the armchair recliners you get in Australia or North America, but the variable configuration usually means there are plenty of J fares available, often at good prices. The comfort level is good for one or two hours. When I was...

Thanks for the review @AFF Editor . I've got this flight booked for March. I was able to find 3 classic award seats in premium economy. On the QF flights to LA I could only ever find a maximum of 2.

New way to earn UA MP PQP in 2024

UA have announced that it will be easier next year to earn PQP using its cobranded Chase credit cards. You will be able to earn 25 PQP per $500. This should make it easier to gain/retain status on UA for those of us lucky enough to have a US credit card. Source...
