I am in a bit of a pickle also with my 318k points expiring in April 2022 transferred before last amex 50% devaluation. So no extension from my understanding.
I live in WA so there also border concerns at this stage. I do have roughly 200k amex ascent points (100k krisflyer) that I can transfer...
I paid medibank through AP Post Billpay page - got 1 point per dollar Plat Edge card. I did a small amount payment which registered as 1ppd, then I did the larger balance payment a few days later also got 1ppd
Basically this is the excuse they give.
Btw, most things you pay over the counter tend to be insurance/utilities/government agencies - so still 0.5 PPD. There are some exceptions I know
They don't need to clearly state what points through paypal because they have said it depends on the merchant - ie if it is Government body then you get 0.5PPD , if it is non government body you get 2 PPD. Paypal is not the determinant. The end merchant is the determinant.
I spoke to the AMEX call centre and basically they can't do anything about it. From what i understand it should always have been like this and the system is getting smarter.
Don't understand why there is so much inconsistency amongst different users, and even the user who made 2 different...
I understand what you are saying, but isn't PostBIllPay an intermediary also? According to your argument - it should be the end beneficiary that counts - but we all know by using PostBIllPay - Aus Post is what comes up on the statement.
So essentially - it is the entity that I am paying...
I don't see any ambiguity associated with the transaction. The transaction is to PAYPAL - whether it is to AP or user XYZ - I am transacting direct with PAYPAL and this attracts the maximum points.
PAYPAL then pays the merchant and this has nothing to do with me or American express - so I don't...
I just paid 2 bills via PAYPAL -- AP postbill pay system and only bot 0.5PPD - amex plat edge card
very disappointed - as it was 2 rates over $4.5K total. I may follow this up with amex
When I called, the call centre worker said he will check the computer system to see if there was any offers - and the answer was no there was no offers. So it is not a random number but a predetermined number. Unless the person has authority to approve bonus amounts
You don't really make sense to me Andye.
As a retailer it is my choice to sell whatever products I wish to sell. If I don't want to see gift cards then I won't sell them (to anyone - from what I am reading Amex payment is not being singled out - just everyone trying to buy gift cards - which is...
Why is everyone so pissed off. The t&c exclude gift cards. They are just cracking down. It was good while it lasted. Time to move on. Either buy goods or forget the offer.
