    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I flew QF J to the UK and SQ J home so wore my QF pjs - I did apologise to the crew member who was serving me she laughed and said that’s ok 😀

Article: Guide to Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold Status

Great article Matt on QF Gold. When I was WP years ago I received my two QF e tags, after over 10 years of use one has fallen apart and the other is getting close to EoL. As I’m LTG do they send new etags or do you have to order them?

    eSims, what is your experience.

Something to note for Telstra users, not sure if this is specific to eSIM or some other change. I have a Telstra eSIM and had Data Roaming set to off on my iPhone however still got pinged $10 on my first day in the UK. I found through the MyTelstra app there was a default setting for...

    eSims, what is your experience.

I’m heading to the UK on Tuesday and have a UK O2 Pay as you go SIM (with a number I need to keep). I’ve converted my Telstra SIM to eSIM and put my O2 physical SIM into my iPhone 14 and have hopefully got my settings right! I do notice when both SIMs are connected battery usage seems to...

What do you do with the amenity kit?

I use what I need in-flight and on travels then take home and either reuse bags for adaptors or similar or give them away. Some of the First class amenity bags make a great travel wash bag.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I used the Live Chat to cancel two bookings yesterday as they failed to cancel online and the points are back in my account today (although advised they could take up to 6 weeks!!) Happy with the process and easier than phoning the call centre and having to explain which flights to cancel and...

Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

After giving up this morning due to so many website errors and Error 500s I tried again this afternoon and got J QF1 for mid-July although nothing coming back to Aus. Then managed to get a SQ J LHR-SYD flight for mid-August, all flights are A380s.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Thanks @Cruiser Elite - Yes, both pax are on same bookings and that's good advice to split them first and then proceed with other changes. I might even be able to convert my 2 x J flights to F ;)

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hi SQ/Krisflyer experts, My wife and I have points redemption flights SYD-LHR 16-Aug and CDG-SYD 17-Sep and it looks like my wife isn't going to make this trip. 1. What's the best way to cancel only my wife's ticket without impacting mine and getting the points back? Can this be done online or...

    What was your first flight?

First flight was LHR to DEL via Moscow with Aeroflot in 1978, my Dad was taking his English wife and 4 sons to see his parents 22years after he left India! He took out a bank loan for the tickets, not cheap at the time for the equivalent of 5 adult fares even with Aeroflot. I was 17 and...

    Apple Airtags

I used Apple Air tags on a recent trip to Uk & Norway. They were very useful on arrival at LHR T2 where all luggage had been removed from the carousels (it took over an hour to get through passport control) and there were hundreds of bags everywhere. Using the phone it directed me to my luggage...

Article: What to Expect Flying QF1 from Sydney to London via Singapore

I think you can buy duty free alcohol in Sydney as long as it’s in a sealed bag. Security will check the back is unopened. I did this on a SQ flight recently and all was ok.

Holidays and Airport 'Chaos' since COVID

I flew out of T1 on Tues 24-May to LHR and had a positive experience after expecting a lot of queuing, from SQ J checkin to airside was around 20mins. Arrival into LHR T2 was another matter, probably an hour to get though border control with a UK passport to see all luggage taken off belt and...

Memories of the Sydney Olympic Games

I was working in Seattle at the time and had negotiated time off to come back to Sydney for the Olympics. On my flight home we had many of the Canadian team and a lot of very excited Aussies all heading home for the big event. No tickets for the first week, but had tickets for most nights of the...
