We are flying Emirates business out of Brisbane in September. I see that their lounge closed last year for renovations - any indication of a reopening date? One site said you can use the Plaza Premium lounge - is that any good? Alternatively, can we use the Qantas lounge? Thanks.

Thanks, guys. Our only experience with BA and machine check-in was at Oslo, and I didn't see any automated bag drop machines. Maybe Lisbon will be different, but 3 hours will suit us fine. Cheers!

Anybody know how far ahead of flights (LIS - LHR) the BA counters in Lisbon open. We're on a big trip that has had some open many hours before, and some only 2 hours before. Google hasn't helped. And the BA website is *$#*.

We will soon be going through Brisbane and Hong Kong airports, on Qantas and Cathay. Not going near the USA! Does anyone know if there are any current problems taking plastic knitting needles in carry-on? We have done this in previous years, but recently noticed they were listed on the board...

TBH, I'm not really sure. We've been given a present from our son, based on Qantas points. So I assume it's the first one you mentioned. The link I gave was from the Qantas site.

That's pretty much all we're looking for. The cities I had in mind (in to Bologna, out from Split) may have to change to more major airports to simplify the flights.

Yes, that's all we want. We're only looking at flights involving 2 stops each way. Most options mean combinations of two airlines, such as Cathay/Austrian, or Singapore/Lufthansa. We just want some protection if anything goes wrong.
