I think flying the day before is the right way to go + hotel near airport. Otherwise it's a 4.30am wake up to get the morning flight!

Ok thanks, Its a QF business rewards ticket, so I believe if the flight is cancelled they try and get you to your destination in whatever class, i.e. economy, or just refund the points!
