I would feel that the Qantas program is a lot less of a con job if there was less smoke and mirrors from Qantas. A big step would be to clearly state how many seats are available for each destination // in each travel class. At least then I could make some guess at what the points are worth to...

so - well... what is the verdict? Personally, I dont really care too much -- I dno't have exposure to QAN right now -- but I want to buy in and having this whole buyout thing hanging around just adds too much uncertainty for me...

I am going to second what inpd says on this one -- You don't enter 'as a US citizen' or 'as an australian citizen' -- your citizenship is a property dependant on your parents nationality/place of birth/ etc etc. When you get to the immigration - if you can prove that you are an australian...

what is this 'best available fare' supposed to mean? is it 'this is the best price that I, the TA, will sell this ticket to you' ... now if it is higher than the qantas fare... ... so what? you were quoted a price. You paid it and you got what you want. I don't see a problem here.

that's true too... also I think that sometimes it is only possible to evaluate the quality of advice wayyyyyyyy into the future (i.e. the fin planner gives you a 20 year plan -- hard to tell if it is good or not right now -- so hence interest in commissions right now).

one thing about comparing with the financial industry -- it is difficult to evaluate the quality of the financial product/advice you get whereas you can work out pretty fast if you got a Y ticket from SYD-HKG on the right dates or not... that is why finance industry has much stronger controls. K

Although it would be very unprofessional, it would be a breath of fresh air to have a Qantas staffer (the so called 'lounge dragons') , when faced with a cheeky emerald with some OW lounge access policy write up, to respond with a simple "Don't be stupid" and that is the end of that... :D

I presume an e-ticket printout satisies this right???
