Car rental / Driving in Turkey

We have three weeks planned in Turkey in April 2024. Looking at a car rental (though will avoid driving in Istanbul). Planning on renting in Cappadocia and return near Istanbul. (likely Bursa). The trip will include Cappadocia, Konya and the South Coast. I am fine with driving "left hand" and...

    "Compliments of Customer Contact"

I was intending to fly from SIN to SYD on delayed QF82 on Friday 4 August. The flight (a A380 was delayed leaving Sydney until 730 pm.) It was due to leave SIN at 4am on the Saturday, 7.30 hours late. I called Qantas and decided to return on QF2 the following day, rather than stay up until 4am...

    QF81 - A380 on Saturdays from Jul 15

I am on QF82 , A380 on Friday 4 August (Was on an A330). I notice the seating is 2+2+2, so old J seating. Do they sell first on this? Wondering what chances are of flying in First class , with J service as a Platinum.

An upgrade that's not really an upgrade

Similar, but i accepted the Middle PE seat. Was flying HKG to AKL in Y with Cathay. Had booked a front seat with extra leg room in a 777. Was offered an upgrade to PE Middle. I thought for a while, and decided 11 hours - yes better in PE. Got to the seat and an extremely large gentleman was in...

Amex not accepted at JW Marriott Auckland

I stayed two weeks ago at the JW in Auckland. Amex is now accepted. As a Platinum, I was given a higher floor room. The hotel does still feel like the Stamford it once was, with a faded 80s edge. Two weeks later still awaiting any Bonvoy points to credit as well.

    Cathay points expiring

I have a similar problem. They are older points from 2018/19. I was able to have them extended by 12 months by talking to Cathy. My points balance was under 50,000 though. I once has Cathy gold, but no longer. Not sure if this was a reason.

    Marriott comes to Canberra.

I have stayed 10 or so times since 2020 at the hotel. Definitely my #1 Canberra option. As a platinum you get a very good breakfast in the restaurant. The mini bar is exceptional - $30 worth of drinks at normal, not mini bar prices. Only downside is the lack of natural light. All rooms face...

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

Best Hotel Upgrade: Sheraton Grand Macao - Massive upgrade to a suite, which was larger than the HK apartment we had. Sadly there was no way we could watch the SuperBowl on the Monday Morning as Macao seemed the only place not to allow streaming... Oddest Car Rental Upgrade: Christmas time in...

Best Business Hotel in Singapore? What is your favourite?

The JW Marriott South Beach is new (approx 2 years old), close to an MRT, and has a good lounge for status guests. I have moved from the Conrad to the JW recently
