I've had the Bankwest Qantas World MasterCard for several months and the QF points usually come through on the 5th of each month or the next business day if the 5th falls on a weekend or pubic holiday. I think this includes Western Australian public holidays as my March points didn't come...
I'm thinking of booking a short trip to New Zealand (MEL-AKL-MEL) on EK406/EK407 in J and possibly F for the flight home. Does one get the chauffeur service for trans-Tasman flights? Also, if I splurge and go F, will I get PJs on a 4-hour daytime flight with EK?
I'll be in Perth next week, so I'll double check that one myself. My recollection was that the J Lounge was on the same level as the departure gates and was basically right next to Gates 14 & 15 where the PER-MEL flights have generally been and the QP was up the escalators and a little bit...
I was catching bits and pieces about this on the news last night and got the impression that a rail link to the new airport is not on the agenda which seems to be very poor planning.
Hopefully the airport will be able to operate 24x7.
I also hope that it will be designed to enable ambulatory...
At least Qantas has separate QP and J lounges in the domestic terminal at Perth. I've been in the Perth J lounge a few times this year and I'd say it's far superior to Melbourne's domestic and international J lounges. It's at least triple the size of Melbourne's domestic J lounge (which seems...
It's somewhat psychological having the comfort that I've cleared immigration and I'm free to leave the country; although I guess the feds could pull me off the plane anytime until takeoff. Proximity of the lounge to the international gates will come into play also. If I understand correctly...
I would assume that the millions of dollars that are going to be spent on converting the Qantas Domestic terminal in Perth to a combined International/Domestic terminal will include appropriate lounge accommodation for J passengers and other interlopers. I think AJ mentioned that it would be on...
Perhaps it's a bit easy for me to say as I stopped flying long-haul Y several years ago, but I'm struggling to understand the seemingly strong preference for the A380 Y product compared to the B787 Y product. From the QF press release, the B787 Y product will have an extra inch of legroom and a...
Another thing to bear in mind is the tax situation. Whilst I'd be willing to try the PER-LHR flight, there's no way I would fork out the £146 departure tax from LHR, so I'll be flying out of Europe from somewhere on the continent.
Personally, I see doing immigration in Perth as a significant advantage as it means at my point of origin and eventual return I will be in and out much faster.
