    Canberra Restaurants & Cafes

There's plenty within an easy walk of QT, you're spoiled for choice. Such and Such took out best new restaurant for NSW and ACT this year which is an achievement for a Canberra restaurant. And I always go to timewarp Italian Mamas Trattoria. It probably hasn't changed since 1975.

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

I'm doing the flight up with Qantas as that's higher risk. I also now know to ignore texts and just go the airport to get it sorted. I don't think they'll miss my dollars, but it might help make a competitor sustainable. (The fiasco flight was Mel-Cbr)

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

The saga is here Best pathway to whinge that might get a positive outcome? But I agree QF or VA is safer. The very good fare with Rex is a major contributing factor.

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

The ABQ was triggered by QF refusing to put her on another flight the same day, so the risk isi still there...

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Rather than creating a new thread I thought I'd dip in here and ask if Rex are generally reliable? Mrs_G is in an ABQ (Anyone But Qantas) phase after recent shabby treatment and Rex have a good fare from Canberra to Melbourne. I don't mind it being delayed but concerned about cancellation as...

    QF9 seat advice - a dilemma

I have only managed to get them one way as the others went whilst I was fuffing around. So I'll be able to compare.

    QF9 seat advice - a dilemma

I did a quick search but couldn't find any discussion on the 789 used for the PER-LHR run. I'm off to a family wedding with Mrs_G in economy in July, and being economy most seats available to me as SG are pretty similar. However, there are pairs of seats at the very back, 59A/B and 59J/K. They...

Why am I not seeing Emirates codeshares on QF's website?

Whilst it is one way to book them, direct with Qantas is my preference in case I need to do anything with the flights. Going through Expedia (or any travel agent) introduces a middle man that can cause issues under some circumstances.

Why am I not seeing Emirates codeshares on QF's website?

Of course! That worked fine, thanks. The algorithm used to show we EF flights down the bottom. Not too fussed about the points but lounge access is desirable.

Why am I not seeing Emirates codeshares on QF's website?

I've been pretty conservative with travel for the past year, playing it safe in case turmoil strikes, so a cruise from Brisbane and another later this year from Southampton. I'm now thinking about next year and am going to do something in Europe again. Obviously, QF isn't big on European cities...

Self-tour vs organised tours in Israel & Jordan

The only thing I would flag is that whilst Israel has wised up on passport stamps, the default for some of the Jordan crossings is a stamp. This can be used against you by some overzealous countries in the future (looking at you, Lebanon) because it names the crossing. They will stamp separately...

Best pathway to whinge that might get a positive outcome?

I thought I would post back. If anything, I am even more annoyed after getting a patronising response from their complaints team. I wasn't expecting anything to change but I was hoping for a a fake apology. "I can assure you that we will always rebook you onto the next available eligible flight...

Best pathway to whinge that might get a positive outcome?

Thank you all for helping me vent my frustration. Mrs_G is going to use her tenacious wombat personality when she gets back from Canberra on Wednesday (flying VA!...) And I have filed away just go to the airport for any future, similar issues.

Best pathway to whinge that might get a positive outcome?

Yes, after chatting at the airport it appears that looks like that would have happened. I naively thought that calling to resolve it would end up with a better outcome for everyone - and, of course, we were not presented on the call with the option of going to the airport and resolving it...
