Marginally off topic....but sort of related. Flying CX J Syd to London, does anyone know if you can take a soft garment bag (i.e. suit bag) on as well as a 'normal' carry-on bag? The web site seems to say no but I thought I'd check on others experience.

I'm not sure that's quite right. You aren't informed on booking that you are going to have a "large framed person" sitting next to you. If you did you could make that choice. Until then, we are subject to the seating lottery that you don't know who will be next to you until you actually get in...
