Also looking to do the Plat Challenge, however with Sydney as my home base. If I'm interpreting the previous threads correctly, it looks like the best option is to fly in-and-out of either CBR or Melb into OOL/Adelaide, bookended by a Return flight to & from Sydney? Am I correct?

(Apologies if this is not the best thread for this Q). What are check-in time suggestions for a Platinum FF travelling on QF63 scheduled for a 9.30am departure on 29th July? Is Sydney International presently still so busy that a 3-hour before flight arrival time is necessary as per the sms...

Agree - the “use points” default option is incredibly presumptuous on their behalf. Same at BP where you have to be careful to cancel the “pay with points” on the card machine.

I had another separate leg (ORT-CPT) booked direct via BA. The cancellation (and credit) process has been easy via the BA website. The only downside is that the initial payment had been in ZAR, so I am sure I will lose some AUD when the credit is processed given the weakness of the local currency.

Bugger, that leg is in economy and no star alliance status. Thankfully, it looks like one can at least buy passes into a Bidvest lounge.

Update - tickets updated - we're flying on SAA flights now for the ORT-CPT (and return) flights. Any ideas whether we'd be able to get into an SAA lounge? (I'm QF Plat/OW Emerald)?
