I declined an op-up from J to F on Etihad AUH-MEL. In my defence I was travelling with my husband but on separate tickets - I was on paid and he was on points.

I think once you enrol as a Plat holder you get automatic status as Five Star. Its a great benefit and Hertz treat you well, with really good upgrades, along with no waiting in queues at airports.

Don't increase your limit, apply for another card with a sign up bonus and churn. Increasing your limit increases your liabilities and makes it harder to get other cards,.

It worked for me, about 18 months ago. My 1year of Gold sadly expired earlier this year.
