just an update for those curious - agent expected the seat to return back in several minutes so we could re-book. That was not the case unfortunately so I am keeping an eye out for it going forward.
Not being seated together is problem given daughter is 2 years old. But I would have left it to be a problem to solved after the ticket is sorted?

I did actually ask for them to book for me then merge the tickets but agent said they couldn't see the availability that I could see...
I'll try a few more times with a few more calls but yeh I'll gamble with a cancel and re-book if no luck on the phone.
There is availability for one person but the booking is for 2. I was also advised to have the booking split and just rebook my daughter but I said no because I can't book a single child ticket online.

Not answering your question but if you are flying business, why do you need a bassinet?
With my 6m old, co-sleeping with mum on the flat bed is so much more comfortable then tiny airplane bassinets.
Have noticed this is well but I question whether the overall experience is better then a shinkansen when on holiday. Sure plane is overall faster but personally its just not as enjoyable as a bullet train (even if it is several trains and 5hrs+)
