Very interesting and well done IMO. NB: Dated 2018. Prescient.

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

It had no structure! We all chatted/shot the breeze and gradually worked our way through each person speaking knowledgeably crapping on about their wine. Then we played guessing games/quizzing about variety, blend, region, the name of the winemaker's mistress - you know, all the b/s. We have...

Fail! Where is the large moth that customarily accompanies that gourmet confection, might I ask? 😜

Exactly - guilty in the deep and ignorant past, but all over the world we (should) know better with information transfer and sharing as it now is.

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Last night, at @Daver6's suggestion, our tasting group had its first virtual tasting, using Zoom. What a hoot! At one point we had about 13 people online. Duration was notionally 1830-2030h. I bailed a little after 2100h to go and cook some dinner. I think it wrapped up a little before...

Interesting back story to Kary Mullis (who, reputedly, had his PCR epiphany on a dark and stormy night drive in the Californian Sierra or such-like). The thermo-cycling key to making the process work efficiently using enzymes from those extremophiles was attributable to others. Nevertheless...

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Our wine tasting group tonight had a virtual tasting using Zoom. What a blast! A few people had slow connection at times, but by and large it worked very well. We set 1830-2030. I bailed at 2100 to go and cook some dinner. Some of the others must have gone another 15-20 mins. I'm quite...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Maybe that indicates the email I received was in response to my email to them, not a broadcast message. Did you ask the agent what would become of your $450 travel credit? What makes you say you don't expect to get it back?

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

And no temperature warning light activated?

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

I have an Amex travel credit booking for 27 April and I've contacted Amex by email. I received this message yesterday: I'm unsure whether it's a response to my email or a general advisory. I'll give it another week or so and phone them if nothing happens. Under the current circumstances I...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

So, what was the full story on what actually happened to seize or blow up the whole donk? Unless I've missed something, IIRC you had a (minor?) prang in Tassie that caused something to break and disaster ensued from that?

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Was that a booking made with the $450 Amex card travel credit, or just a paid booking using Amex Travel as your TA?
