    New Credit Card When Retired

It's one of the downsides to the banking royal commission, and discoveries that banks were being too "lax" giving out loans. Refusing new credit cards is supposed to make them more "responsible". Very frustrating when you have decent assets. AND, I discovered that they treat your current card...

    International Driving Permits/Licences

Since you told your story, I'll tell mine. Around 1990 in LA, a cop pulled me over after I mistakenly drove through a pedestrian crossing when the pedestrian hadn't quite finishing crossing. I apologized profusely, and told him I was heading to the airport and home, as I handed him my regular...

    International Driving Permits/Licences

We got asked for one in Bordeaux, Fr, 2 years ago, for car hire. And yes, I agree that the Oz prices are a rip-off!

    Window shades

I love the "red dirt" in central Australia, and the amazing lakes that pop up in unexpected places. The constantly changing colours and, yes, scenery from 30,000 ft is something to marvel at. I've also been lucky enough to get a view of the sunset across the plains, travelling RH side DRW>MEL...

QF10 LHR to MEL Premium Economy

Last week, my request to use points to upgrade from Economy to Premium was granted, so I took my first PE flight. Overall, it was very good, and to anyone wondering if upgrading to PE is "worth it", I would say Yes. The extra comfort allowed a little more sleep, with the result being that the...

QF enforcing 3 hour checkin time limit at MEL?

I arrived at QF35 check-in a few minutes before the 3.5-hr limit for A-380. The attendant tried to say that check-in wasn't open yet, I'd have to wait. I started to explain that it's 3.5 hrs for A-380, and she cut me off, asking: "is the flight listed in the monitor above your head?" Yes, I...

QF enforcing checkin time at LHR?

Reporting that staff arrived at Heathrow check-in counters around 8:00 a.m. for QF10 departure at 12:10, so slightly ahead of the strict 4 hours. Security queues were not bad at that time, we were in the lounge by 8:30. :-) And a very nice lounge it is, too.

A very good point, thanks Calmelb.

QF enforcing checkin time at LHR?

Thank you, all. Back to one of my original questions, I may be getting an early-morning lift to LHR. If I happen to arrive earlier than 4 hrs, is it likely I'll be able to check in bags?

QF enforcing checkin time at LHR?

Thank you! I had heard recent horror stories about queues at LHR (it's been a while since I've been there). But from what you've said, it shouldn't be too bad checking in Qclub/Premium Economy.

QF enforcing checkin time at LHR?

Hi folks. Similar to the recent "checkin at MEL", I'm wondering if QF are enforcing the 4-hr check-in time at LHR? I'm on QF10 to PER, and I'm a little worried about potential immigration queue times after check-in. I'd like to check-in super-early. Anyone have any experience of either?
