    Agreed. Considering it's quite easy to hop on the Eurostar, then switch at Gare du Nord to CDG and get there in ~3 hours for under 60 euro if you book far enough in advance, it can save quite a bit of APD for not much time. Heathrow Express is 25 quid too!

    The reason I suspected the CSR was fibbing was that if I booked the itinerary through the website (SYD-LHR, FCO-DOH-JNB, JNB-SYD), I would not have to enter any APIS. Only passenger information. The fact they said I cannot amend the booking to fix the middle leg without APIS was surreal.

    Got a callback at 1:30pm, and my alternative ticket has been issued. Thanks to changes in fuel surcharges it was an extra $150 for two adults and an infant, however completely worth it for peace of mind. Femke from the Hobart call centre was extremely helpful!
